The Fate of Laguna Bar?

If you listened to the most-recent WDW Main Street Podcast – Episode 506 – Our Sunday News! – you’d know that John Peters recorded the episode while sitting nearby one of our favorite spots … Laguna Bar!

Well, it might be adrift amidst a “sea” of Disney construction, but it’s been able to hang onto its old spot next to Lago Dorado.  Looking like its old self, we’re glad John sent us some photos of this beloved venue.  Take a look …

Memories and Mudslides!

Short and sweet to start this fine week, my friends.  Literally!  Short and sweet.

Not only have Mrs. All in WDW and I not been to The World for quite some time, it is probably going to be a few more months before we pass under Disney’s welcoming gates.

The Western gate. One of the most gorgeous sights in ANY world.

Of course, that fact is causing me to wax nostalgic.  Good food, beautiful sights, and refreshing drinks.  Naturally, all that longing leads me to … Laguna Bar!

Behold!  Good food …

The “legendary” Laguna Burger. I swear it’s one of the BEST burgers on property. Normally comes with your choice of chips, but you can request fries at an upcharge.

Beautiful sights …

Refreshing drinks …

Modelo is one of my favorite “Disney beers”.  I only drink it when I’m relaxing at Laguna Bar!

Finally, we make it to the “sweet”.  It’s out of the ordinary for us to enjoy a “dessert drink”, but Laguna’s Mudslide is pretty darn good!

I dearly hope that our beloved bar on the “shore” of Lago Dorado survives the resort’s on-going re-imagineering.  I guess that only time will tell.

Did you “vote” in this weekend’s Disney Springs restaurant poll, folks?  If not, please go back and weigh in with your opinion.  Results will post tomorrow!

What’s the Best (Most Enticing) New Restaurant in Disney Springs?!  VOTE!

Wait! Coronado Springs Found Their Boats?!

For those of you who have stayed at, and maybe even love, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you’ll appreciate this story.

Mrs. All in WDW and I were hit with a big surprise when we stopped by Laguna Bar on a recent trip.  Coronado finally found their boats!

Our very first trip to Walt Disney World was way back in 1999.  We stayed at, and fell in love with, Coronado Springs.

Other than the general theming and atmosphere of the resort, and its Pepper Market “food court”, we loved Lago Dorado for its beautiful view … and its boats!

Take a look at these shots of La Marina.  I pulled them out of my mid-2000’s archive of photos.

Sadly, in recent years, lack of profitability marked the end of Coronado’s dock … its fleet of boats a distant memory.  Well, they’re back!

Or, are they?  In true investigative reporter fashion, I went in search of the resort’s “powers that be”.

Have you ever heard of Mercury Marine?  They make top-quality outboard motors as well as a line of inboard boat engines.

Do you also know that Coronado is a popular Disney convention resort?

Uh, yeah.  Unfortunately, Coronado’s new-found fleet of watercraft had re-appeared as nothing more than “eye candy”.  Mercury was on their way in for a conference, and Coronado “dressed up” for the party.

Hopefully, one day, La Marina will spring back into life, but, today, it’s back to being the same old desolate dock.  Sad, but true.

Hey!  Don’t tease us like that Disney!  It’s not kind!  Cheers, everyone.  Have a great day!
