Cinderella Castle Trivia – The Journey Ends!

First, the answer. There are 13 gargoyles on the outside of the castle. That one stumped most of us as the most popular response was, “What’re you talkin’ ’bout, Bob? Disney wouldn’t put gargoyles on Cinderella’s crib!”  It’s true, I promise you.  Look at the picture-proof below!

It’s amazing what you can learn when you start looking for tidbits to turn into trivia questions.  Here’s two more little nuggets before we move on …

… most people mistakenly refer to the Magic Kingdom’s iconic structure as “Cinderella’s Castle”. The correct name is Cinderella Castle. It’s a subtle difference, but true nonetheless. And, the restaurant inside Cinderella Castle was renamed Cinderella’s Royal Table in April of 1997. It was originally known as King Stefan’s Banquet Hall. Who’s King Stefan? Sleeping Beauty’s father. Odd, since Sleeping Beauty lives in a castle in California.

Finally, one of the really fun things about running a blog or web site is trying new things. For instance, a couple of months ago, while in WDW, I took a shot at a feature called “Where in The World is All in WDW?”. And, a few weeks back, I introduced a new concept regarding All in WDW’s “bank” of Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs). Both received relatively cool receptions. Alternatively, I posted Dining Recon: Beaches and Cream Soda Shop last Saturday and it has seen 759 readers thus far. In other words, some things work. Some things don’t.

With this little machine-gun attack of trivia questions, we went from 56 to 39 to 21 votes as we progressed through the three polls. I think I wore you out! The lesson? Don’t do that again! And, post more food pictures!  Ha-ha.  To repay you for your patience, I’ll send some more food your way tomorrow … and over the weekend! Cheers!

  1. Personally, because I like the trivia and since I missed the first “Where in the World is All in WDW?”, I hope that you do keep posting them, but maybe not as often. It’s something that sets you apart from other blogs, since there are tons of Disney food-related blogs. That being said, I’m always open for more Disney food pics.

    • Thanks for the feedback, Andrew. One of my favorite things is Disney dining, so there will be my fair share of that, but I agree that there are a lot of Disney food web sites out there. I don’t want to be just about food. You just taught me a lesson, though. Just because something didn’t get a response two months ago doesn’t mean it’s not worth another shot! Thanks!

  2. I, for one, don’t mind the trivia questions. Some are challenging, and some are just too easy. Regardless, I love that you pointed out the gargoyles, the name of the castle and King Stephan’s restaurant. Something I noticed awhile back about the castle was the detail that they put into it. For example, there are Archer Loops in the castle walls. If you’re not familiar with them, it’s a slot they would build in real castles used to defend it. Here’s a link to a picture of what I’m talking about: http://i.imgur.com/LjAfcKl.jpg
It’s amazing to me that they would add this level of detail.

    • Thanks! I try to balance the trivia between hard and easy, but it is a challenge. I want them hard enough so the answer isn’t obvious but easy enough that I don’t scare everyone away! Ha-ha
