Thanksgiving at The Boathouse?!

Sure!  Why not?!  Hey!  We still think that The Boathouse in Disney Springs is one of the very best new additions to Walt Disney World!

To our U.S. friends, Happy Thanksgiving!  We hope you have a great day with family and friends.  Oh, and I haven’t forgotten about All in WDW and WDW Main Street’s non-U.S. family.  Happy Thursday to all of you!

Mrs. All in WDW and I can’t resist The Boathouse.  A gorgeous view of the Sassagoula River.  The boats that “decorate” the restaurant.  The great food.  Phenomenal!

And, speaking of fabulous, fantastic, and phenomenal, let me remind you of one of my overall WDW favorites – Firecracker Shrimp!

Sriracha mayo.  Serrano chilis.  Sweet peppers.  Thanksgiving dinner?  Who cares?  It’s utterly delicious!

My friends, take my recommendation.  Holiday or not, visit The Boathouse.  Sit out on the pier.  Take in the view.  Enjoy the boats!  You won’t be sorry!

Parasailing Away! It’s Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Recently, Mrs. All in WDW and I have become quite enamored with Disney’s Contemporary Resort … and its sister – Bay Lake Tower!

Beautiful, aren’t they?  My friends, whether it’s for breakfast at The Wave or beverages at Outer Rim, we really enjoy our visits.

The Wave serves a delicious Florida Rock Shrimp Omelet!  I highly recommend it!

For us, though, our favorite thing is that both of the resorts offer a great setting in which to enjoy our daily walks.  Just follow the scenic Running Trail!

Who wouldn’t want to see one of these glide by as they get some exercise?  Breathtaking, huh?

And, how about Bay Lake, itself?  Well, from boating to parasailing, whether you’re inclined to participate in adventurous activities or simply watch from afar, recreation abounds.

Sammy Duvall will set you up!  Of course, it’ll cost you!  Bring your credit card!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  A great place to stay!  A gorgeous place to visit!

Photo OVERLOAD! Dining Recon: The Boathouse

As you’re about to find out, when it comes to The Boathouse, there’s no such thing as too many pictures.  It’s a good thing, my friends, because I’ve got a “boatload” to show you!

Honestly, folks, I’m pretty much going to let my photography speak for itself.  I think my words will just get in the way!  From exterior to entryway …

… and from welcoming Cast Members to waterside dining …

… The Boathouse is an undeniable treasure!  The theme – the decor – is phenomenal!  How’d you like to be able to eat in a boat?!

Boats, boats, and more boats, eh?  Hey, what about the food, you ask?  Well, the cuisine was great!  A bit pricey, maybe, but quite enjoyable.

We walked in for a light lunch right after the restaurant opened.  Wanting to be near the water, we elected to stroll down the pier and sit “dock side”!

Mrs. All in WDW selected the Andouille & Beer Steamed Mussels for $15.

Fortunately, our son and his fiancee’ were able to join us for this experience!  She chose the Yellowfin Tuna Poke and said it was well worth its $18 price tag.

Ever the adventurer, our son “jumped” on the $17 Coconut Frog Legs.  Hmm.  He said they were very good, but I don’t know if I will ever be brave enough to give them a chance.

Finally, I couldn’t resist the Firecracker Shrimp!  At $19, I was the most expensive diner of the bunch.  Yikes!  They were delicious, however.  Plus, the portion was pretty substantial!

Downtown Disney is undergoing a phenomenal transition as it becomes Disney Springs, and The Boathouse has been a great addition to an already impressive complement of restaurants.

My recommendation?  Get it on your list of ADRs and enjoy!  The theme and the food are well worth the price!

Balloon Over Boathouse!

Sometimes a few good pictures tell a story much better than any author can write.  To be honest, I’m not sure my words could do justice to this sight.

Visit Downtown Disney, my friends.  Can we just start calling it Disney Springs, by the way?  Hop on the Sassagoula River Cruise and enjoy!

You’ll experience a relaxing ride, and you’ll find the balloon, boats, blue sky, and clouds.  What beauty!

Wait! Coronado Springs Found Their Boats?!

For those of you who have stayed at, and maybe even love, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you’ll appreciate this story.

Mrs. All in WDW and I were hit with a big surprise when we stopped by Laguna Bar on a recent trip.  Coronado finally found their boats!

Our very first trip to Walt Disney World was way back in 1999.  We stayed at, and fell in love with, Coronado Springs.

Other than the general theming and atmosphere of the resort, and its Pepper Market “food court”, we loved Lago Dorado for its beautiful view … and its boats!

Take a look at these shots of La Marina.  I pulled them out of my mid-2000’s archive of photos.

Sadly, in recent years, lack of profitability marked the end of Coronado’s dock … its fleet of boats a distant memory.  Well, they’re back!

Or, are they?  In true investigative reporter fashion, I went in search of the resort’s “powers that be”.

Have you ever heard of Mercury Marine?  They make top-quality outboard motors as well as a line of inboard boat engines.

Do you also know that Coronado is a popular Disney convention resort?

Uh, yeah.  Unfortunately, Coronado’s new-found fleet of watercraft had re-appeared as nothing more than “eye candy”.  Mercury was on their way in for a conference, and Coronado “dressed up” for the party.

Hopefully, one day, La Marina will spring back into life, but, today, it’s back to being the same old desolate dock.  Sad, but true.

Hey!  Don’t tease us like that Disney!  It’s not kind!  Cheers, everyone.  Have a great day!
