As I mentioned yesterday, while we were adding vital “entree” information to our “Food” & Garden “database”, we found that we just couldn’t resist our sweet tooth.
Not normally “dessert people”, we were intrigued (OK, I was intrigued) by the thought of a Kumquat Pie.
It was outstanding. A perfectly baked, flaky, crust. A very tasty filling. It was a dessert we’d come back for (OK, I would come back for) again and again!
And, of course, who can deny themselves a “Piggylicous” Bacon Cupcake with maple frosting and pretzel crunch?
Honestly, as attractive as the cupcake appears, and as “hyped” as its presence on the menu was, I was very surprised to discover that I actually preferred the Kumquat Pie! The cupcake was much-less “bacon” and much-more “maple” than we had hoped.
It was good, don’t get me wrong, but we expected much more of a savory-sweet balance. This tilted way too far over to sweet, in my opinion. If that’s what you like, however, then this is the thing for you!
In fact, I even enjoyed the Lemon Scones from Buttercup Cottage in the United Kingdom much more than The Smokehouse’s maple-bacon bakery.
The scones were soft and fresh. The berry preserve and crème fraÎche accompaniments were delicious as well.
OK. Now, certainly that has to be the end of “Food” & Garden. Hmm. Well, let’s see.
I still need to announce the Readers’ Top 10 Desserts.
We still need to publish the All in WDW Final Top 15 Entrees … as well as our Top 10 Desserts.
We have Sarah’s Top 10 desserts to cover. I have menu and pricing posts in the queue.
Wow! Won’t “Food” & Garden ever be over? Well, not until May 18th, it won’t. So, do you know what that means?
Plan your trips, my friends! Take advantage of all the information posted at All in WDW’s “Food” & Garden HQ! And, write your menus! Bon appetit!
