And, yes, I have a ticket! See? I’m going to Mars! Oh, OK. Not really.
But, here’s a “chance of a lifetime”! I stumbled on this in an Orlando Sentinel article yesterday … “Send Your Name to Mars”!
This link actually leads to NASA’s Mars web page and information regarding “America’s new spacecraft for human exploration” – Orion. According to the site, “NASA’s Orion spacecraft is built to take humans farther than they’ve ever gone before.
Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry [a] crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities.
Orion’s first flight test, designated Exploration Flight Test-1, will launch December 4, 2014 on a two-orbit, four-hour flight …”
So, what do you get out of this “short” flight? Well, go to this link. Fill out a few small fields of information – name, country, zip (postal) code, etc. – and print your boarding pass!
With your “boarding pass”, your name will fly on Orion’s test flight!
Are you like me? Have you ever wanted to see your name in space? Then, take a few minutes to register. You can join me on a “real” journey into the heavens!
The deadline to enter your name is October 31st.
