Hangin’ Out on Casey’s Corner!

By John Peters

Fans, I have a confession to make.  I was born and raised in Orlando, and I have been to the Magic Kingdom countless times.  Having said that, I had never before eaten a hot dog from Casey’s Corner!

Well, that was until my most recent trip, that is.  My wife and I had found a great spot for the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade – by the way, it is now at 2 PM instead of 3 PM.  There’s your “tip for the day”!

While we waited for the festivities to begin, I got her a popcorn.  For me, I decided that a hot dog would taste great!

Casey’s serves hot dogs, fries, and sodas.  When you do something right, you don’t need to offer an extensive menu!

Foot-long price is on the left. 8″ dog’s price is on the right.

Their special that day was a hot dog topped with pineapple, red peppers, cilantro, lime juice, and sweet chili sauce.  I almost decided to order it, but, in the end, I went with their Macaroni & Cheese All-Beef Hot Dog.

Draped with macaroni and cheese and adorned by bacon, the dog was delicious!  In fact, for me, the mac-n-cheese had just the right creamy texture!

Casey’s Corner’s hot dogs all come with your choice of apple slices or French fries.  Each is available as either a standard 8″ dog or as a foot-long version.

Oh, and they do have a toppings bar that is utterly loaded with onions, sauerkraut, and jalapeños.  Good stuff!

I’ve finally made it to Casey’s, everyone, and I have to tell you … I will return very soon.

Come to think of it, though, I only have one little critique.  The only thing that would have made my experience even better?  Hah!  A beer, of course!

Any “Harbour” In A Storm? We Have A Magic Kingdom “Champion”!

Well, folks, it was a wild ride and a razor-close finish, but any “harbour” in a storm will do, eh?  I just knew that this one was over before the “tournament” ever began.

You see, Magic Kingdom’s Columbia Harbour House just gets way too much love to lose.  In fact, it won this very same poll the last time we ran it … back in 2014!

Congrats on the “repeat”, Columbia!  You are the 2016 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Magic Kingdom Quick Service!

Columbia Harbour House

When it comes to our new (old?) champion, I have to admit that Mrs. All in WDW and I have tried way too little of their menu to make a fair appraisal of the restaurant’s “greatness”.

Honestly, we’ve only sampled their Fish and Chips!  And, looking back at what I wrote back then, you’ll find that I said …

“When in Walt Disney World, whilst dreaming of perfectly battered, piping hot, incredibly flaky, crisply fried fish, you must … pick Yorkshire [County Fish Shop in Epcot]!”

In other words, I was left unimpressed with Columbia Harbour House’s offering.  True, one plate of fish and chips does not a restaurant make, but that was my opinion, nonetheless.

Having said that, I know that I’m distinctly in the Disney minority.  Anyway, with other attractive options like Grilled Salmon and Lobster Roll on Harbour’s menu, I know we haven’t given Columbia the fairest of shots.

Hey!  Before I move on, how about that Dole Whip?  Two years ago, Aloha Isle gave Columbia a run for its money, as well.  Like I said in my post yesterday, it just goes to show you … doesn’t everyone love Dole Whip?

Dining Recon: Casey’s Corner

Confession time.  Until just over a month ago, Mrs. All in WDW and I had never visited Casey’s Corner.

Can you believe it!  It’s an amazing omission.  Well, it is to me, at least.  After all, my favorite sport is baseball, and I just love corn dogs!

We certainly enjoyed our first visit!  Mmm.  Corn dog nuggets!  A very inexpensive $5.49 snack!  How could we pass it up?  Quite simply, they were delicious.

Casey’s nostalgic decor is phenomenal, as well.  It certainly lives up to the restaurant’s theme.  Take a look!  Very colorful!

We have been visiting Walt Disney World for 15 years.  In all that time, we’d never stopped by Casey’s for even the quickest of bites?  What were we thinking?!  I’m glad we finally remedied that mistake.

How about you?  Have you neglected this Magic Kingdom counter service gem?  Take our advice.  Don’t.  Add it to your list.  It’s well worth it … even if it’s just to enjoy a quick, cheap snack!
