Hurricane Hanna’s … Again?! Hey! When It’s Good, It’s Good!

If you’ve learned anything about Mrs. All in WDW and I over the last (almost) six years, when we find something (or somewhere) we like, we tend to visit time and time again.

Don’t believe me?  Type Laguna Bar in the search box at the top of the page.  At one point, I was even the “Mayor” of Laguna Bar on FourSquare.  My name is still all over their FourSquare page!

Anyway, for us, Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill fits into Laguna’s “mold”.  We love the place so much, we visit often.  Why?  Easy.  Friendly bartenders, great food, and a beautiful view!

Nestled safely between the boardwalk and beach of Crescent Lake and the Beach & Yacht Club Resorts’ Stormalong Bay, Hanna is a fantastic spot to sit back and relax.

And, I did mention the food, didn’t I?  Delicious!  Let’s take a look …

A different recipe than in day’s past, Hurricane’s Seared Tuna is, now, served with an Asian slaw and a citrus soy glaze.  Mrs. All in WDW and I shared it as a refreshing starter.  Very satisfying.

Another option is their House-Made Popcorn Shrimp.  With a trio of dipping sauces, the presentation is quite unique and, although they look a bit on the crispy side, the shrimp tasted great!

If you’re going to nibble on apps, you have to toss in some of Hanna’s House Chips.  Crispy, and like everything else, very shareable.  Hey!  They serve a pretty generous portion for a mere $3!

Finally, all of those appetizers – spread out over several hours, I must add – led us to split a Grilled Chicken Sandwich.  Served on a pretzel roll with smoked cheddar and spicy mustard, we loved it!

Having said all of that, although the food is great, it isn’t the cuisine that keeps bringing us back to Hurricane Hanna’s.  My friends, it is the people (the staff) and the setting (Crescent Lake).

One of WDW’s best outdoor bars, we can’t recommend Hanna highly enough.  The bartenders keep it fun.  You can’t possibly get enough of the views.  Two thumbs up from both of us, folks.  Visit sometime soon!

Dining Recon: Oasis Bar & Grill

Speaking of pool bars.  Let’s hop down the Monorail loop, shall we?  The Polynesian Village Resort is very-often considered to be one of Disney’s best Deluxe accommodations.

img_3084

Loaded with South Pacific flair, it’s most-known for its ultra-popular Table Service venues – ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe.

When it comes to Counter Services, however, Captain Cook’s ‘quickly’ comes to mind.  Well, the captain has a bit of competition now, I’d say!

Folks, meet Oasis Bar & Grill!  I have to confess … I had to sneak into this spot.  It’s reserved for resort Guests only!  Anything for you, my friends!

The Poly’s newest pool bar, as you can see, Oasis is a great looking spot.  It also offers fantastic views with plenty of seating!

Their menu offers plenty of options …

Remember how much I loved Food & Wine’s Kalua Pork Sliders?  Well, check it out!  Oasis serves their own recipe!

img_3099

img_3100

So, how were they?  Well, at $9.99, they were relatively economical.  Food & Wine charged $4.25 for one.  Oasis serves three!

Taste-wise?  Um, Food & Wine definitely “wins” the battle.  The Oasis sliders were a bit dry.

Food & Wine’s pork, by comparison, was much more moist and tender.  Having said that, it wasn’t a bad meal.  A quick lunch and a refreshing beverage.  A nice afternoon repast.

Oasis Bar & Grill, Disney fans.  If you’re staying at Poly, try it!  If not, and you try to sneak in … well, you didn’t get the idea from me!

Menu “Recon”: The Sand Bar!

Tucked safely away on the “beaches” of Bay Lake and basking in the sunshine of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you’ll find The Sand Bar!

img_4928

From a 1/3 lb. Angus Bacon Cheeseburger to a Turkey BLT Wrap, you can have a veritable poolside feast!  Look at all of the choices!

img_4926

You want something “light” and fun?  How about Hummus and Vegetables or House-made Chips?  Hey!  Are you looking for Mickey?

img_4927

The The Sand Bar offers a Mickey Pretzel, a Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar, a Mickey’s Ice Cream Sandwich, or even a Mickey’s Crisped Rice Treat!  What a stocked menu!

img_4929

My friends, whether you’re enjoying the Contemporary’s pool, or passing through the resort on a visit, The Sand Bar is a great stop for a quick meal or a delicious snack!

And, do I need to mention the views?  From Bay Lake to gorgeous architecture to Walt Disney World’s famous monorail … what a beautiful place!

Grab That Suitcase, Folks! It’s Gurgling (Getting?) Away!

Wow!  What a victory!

Old Key West fans rose up in force to deliver a decisive victory to Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits – our inaugural All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Pool Bar!

I have to admit, I am a slight bit surprised.  Why?  Well, knowing the popularity of Disney’s Beach and Yacht Clubs – as well as Stormalong Bay (their signature pool) – I was certain that Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill would take the “prize”!

True, Hanna did finish in 2nd, but, realistically, it never had a chance.  Gurgling leaped out fast and far and didn’t look back!  I’ll say it again … wow!

What makes the Suitcase so popular?  For us, it’s the “outside while you’re inside” feel of the place.  We love the open doors!

Of course, the view doesn’t hurt …

And, the decorations are quite nice …

A smallish spot, the bartenders are very friendly.  The beer is ice cold.  And, the food is good.

By the way, you can order off of the Suitcase’s own bar menu or from Olivia’s Cafe (it is attached).  In addition, Good’s Food to Go is right next door.

Before I move on, let me pass along one more small piece of advice …

If you’re craving a lunch-time beverage and a seat at the bar, drop in at opening “bell” – 11:30 AM.  Space can be very limited!

So, my friends, let’s close with one last important piece of business … the All in WDW Readers’ Top 10 Favorite WDW Pool Bars!

Well, at least we can start the week off with a little bit of fun.  I mean, what better way to start a day than with an All in WDW poll!  Oh, OK.  I guess we could actually be in WDW!
