I keep thinking that Disney will release Epcot’s “Food” & Garden menus any day now. Last year, for example, I published the full list of offerings on February 15th! C’mon, Disney! We’re hungry.
Actually, yesterday, Pam Brandon of Disney Parks Blog gave us a little taste of what’s to come. Did you see it? Anyway, here are some savory sensations to think about …
Epcot’s new “Kitchen”, Botanas Botánico between France and Morocco, will serve:
- Cachapas (a sweet yellow corn pancake) with Farmer’s Cheese
- Seafood Ceviche – shrimp, scallops, and grouper served with mango and avocado
All in WDW’s favorite “kitchen”, The Smokehouse, has changed things up a bit, it seems. They’ll be selling:
- Beef Brisket Burnt Ends Hash with White Cheddar Fondue and Pickled Jalapeños
What?! It sounds good, but say it ain’t so! What about your Smoked Beef Brisket? It finished at #2 on our Final Top 15 list in 2014!
A Quinoa Vegetable Naanwich with arugula pesto and oven-dried tomatoes will be served by Urban Farm Eats.
Please, oh please, tell me that it won’t be replacing 2014’s Ghost Pepper-dusted Tilapia. Instead, it should knock last year’s Land-grown Eggplant “Scallop” outa “the show”!
Urban Farm Eats will also offer a Kale Salad with dried cherries, almonds, and goat cheese. Perhaps it replaces last year’s Pickled Beet Salad?
Vegetarian Falafel with cucumber tomato salad and tahini sounds interesting. It will be found in Morocco, of course.
By the way, tahini is a paste made from ground, hulled sesame seeds and is used in North African, Greek, Iranian, Turkish, and Middle Eastern cuisine. It is served as a dip or on its own. Thanks, Wikipedia!
Also on Morocco’s menu will be a Harissa Chicken. Will it be last year’s kebab with couscous salad? If so, it placed at #6!
Watermelon Salad with pickled onions, baby arugula and feta cheese will return to Florida Fresh! This dish is a perennial favorite of festival-goers and is a very refreshing bite! It hit my Top 15 at #12 in 2014.
Florida’s Shrimp and Stone-Ground Grits with Andouille Sausage was #5 last year. It will be back too! Yay!!!
France’s Pulled Duck Confit will be back, as well … unfortunately. I just didn’t like that dish last year!
Pineapple Promenade will be providing a Spicy Hot Dog bathed in pineapple chutney and sriracha mayo. Now, this new item is on my menu … for sure!
Of course, we can’t leave out Mexico. They’ll be back with an Achiote-marinated Pork. Last year, it was a corn taco that was “Just OK” as far as my palate was concerned.
Finally, the “champ” is back! Returning to The Smokehouse’s menu is the utterly delicious and filling Pulled Pig Slider!
This “simple masterpiece” has “won” the festival for us (Mrs. All in WDW and I) two-straight years! Can it do it again? We’ll see very soon. The 2015 Epcot International “Food” & Garden Festival “kicks off” on March 4th!
Eating vegetarian at Disney is very challenging. Thank you for reminding me I can get a full belly in Epcot. The park is the best place to have delectable cuisine even when the special events are not in full swing.
