Good morning, my friends! Welcome to “Dining Recon: A Fabulous Lunch at Rose & Crown Dining Room”!
I was talking to Doug Davis of the WDW Main Street Podcast late last week, and he reminded me that Mrs. All in WDW and I are scheduled to meet him (and his better half!) for dinner at Epcot’s Rose & Crown Dining Room in early March. We can’t wait!
Then, that also reminded me that I still have a lunch to share with you! It’s not often I visit a Table Service restaurant on my very own, but on this particular day, way back in October, I couldn’t resist!
You know, I’ve been pretty vocal about the fact that, for years, my favorite Disney entree was the Captain’s Grille’s Cabernet Braised Short Rib. After the restaurant’s closure, I even entered the dish into All in WDW’s Hall of Fame!

Of course, now that the Captain and its masterpiece have been retired, another culinary delight will need to step to the forefront of my palate’s desire, don’t you think? Enter the Rose & Crown’s Bangers and Mash!
Doug is right. For the price – now for $21 – this presentation is still the most cost-effective, best-tasting meal on Disney property! Traditional English sausage with colcannon potatoes, roasted mushrooms, caramelized onion jam, and red wine demi? Delicious!
For me, what made this particular lunch so enjoyable, however? Well, it’s simply because I provided Doug with a running, bite-by-bite commentary (by text) as he diligently hung sheetrock on the job site. Hey! He took it with good humor. I loved the dish’s great taste!
Take it from both Doug and I. You can’t beat the Rose’s atmosphere. The beer is always cold and refreshing. And, whether you go Fish and Chips or Bangers and Mash, you can’t go wrong. The food is great!
