“Pop” Goes a “Champion”! The Readers have Spoken!

Good Monday, my friends!  I would be negligent if I didn’t start off the day by thanking all of you.

Your comments during yesterday’s poll were phenomenal!  In fact, Facebook “blew up” with thoughtful “editorials”, “spot-on” critiques, and tons of heart-felt emotion.

If there’s one thing, other than attractions, that Disney fans are passionate about, it’s their favorite resorts.  Do you agree?  And, yesterday?  Well, we only scratched the surface!

In your own words, let’s see a small sample of what you think about yesterday’s candidates, the competition, as well as the, now, two-time All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Value Resort – Disney’s Pop Century!

“The only value I’ve stayed at was Art of Animation, and we loved it.”

“I don’t love the value resort theming, but we have stayed at POP twice recently.  [We] have had wonderful trips staying at POP.  It’s better than not going at all!”

“[W]hen I see the value hotels, that’s just what I would expect staying on property at WDW.  I love the theming.”

“We liked [POP’s] food court – for the variety of options – and the bus system.  We never had to wait very long.”

“My family will be staying at POP later this year.  My view on it is as long as it [has] got a bed and shower, then I’m good!”

“[S]taying at POP allows us to go more.  This week, this will be our 6th trip … to POP.  Food court is great.  Busses are great.”

POP is our favorite Value, by far.  Although the Quick Service is busy, the choices are so much better.”

Of course, not all your comments were filled with love and admiration.  Here’s your “counterpoint” …

“I literally would rather not go than stay at a Value resort ever again.”

“I can’t believe POP is winning by so much.  I hated that hotel.  It’s entirely too large.  The rooms are very small.  It was my first value and I swore them off forever because of it.”

“I really dislike POP.  Stayed once, and I know people who stayed and didn’t like it either.”

“It was loud.  They had music blaring from a loudspeaker at the pool until 11 PM.  Small hard beds, people randomly smoking everywhere, small rooms, people everywhere.”

“I don’t think I’d want to stay at a Value because I don’t like the loud colors, themes, or crowds.”

Wow!  Like I said … a lot of passion!  When it comes to resorts, we surely do love where we love, it seems.

Take it from me.  Given the chance, our family would pick Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort 100 times out of 100.  But, then, that’s a Moderate.  We’ll tackle those next weekend!

Until then, Disney’s Pop Century Resort “reigns” supreme!  It is the 2015 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Value Resort!

Value Resorts? We’ve Got YOUR Favorites Right Here! VOTE!

“Affordable comfort and convenience for families on the go.”  Or, so says Walt Disney World’s web site, that is.

In essence, that’s what this class of Disney resorts really delivers … incredible value!  Think about it … how much time do you actually spend in your room?

Not much, you say?  Well, if that’s the case, there’s a very strong argument for avoiding the expense of luxury to take advantage of a value’s savings and simplicity.

Disney's Pop Century Resort

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

It has been almost a year-and-a-half since we, the All in WDW community, have addressed Walt Disney World’s resorts.  I think it’s well past time for us to, once again, select our Favorites.

This week?  We’re going to take on the “Values”.  My friends, you know the drill.  I present a one-day, six-option, poll, below.  Your task is easy.  VOTE for your favorite!

And, before you ask, if you’ve never stayed at a Value, don’t abstain.  VOTE for which ONE of these resorts you would pick for your next trip!

Which will become the 2015 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Value Resort?!  You tell me!

Cheers, folks!  Have a great day!  VOTE!

The All in WDW Readers’ Top 5 Value Resorts!

Can I digress for just one moment?  What a game last night!  What a terrible, terrible game!

Really, Denver?  I know that Seattle had the best defense in the league this year, but how in the world does the most epic offensive juggernaut in NFL history lay that big of an egg?

From the first play from scrimmage – a snap over Peyton Manning’s head, if you forgot it already – the Broncos’ offensive line was completely off their game, manhandled, and outplayed.  I don’t care if Manning is one of the best quarterbacks ever, Denver never had a chance.

Enough already.

Short and sweet today, my friends.  I was up too late watching football last night!

To conclude our little trip through Walt Disney World’s value resorts, I present you with the All in WDW Readers’ Top 5 Value Resorts!

  1. Pop Century Resort
  2. Art of Animation Resort
  3. All-Star Sports Resort
  4. All-Star Movies Resort (tie)
  5. All-Star Music Resort (tie)

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the “bright and shiny”, brand new, crown jewel of WDW’s assortment of value resort options.  Isn’t it?

Take a look back at yesterday’s post to see why we think it suffered a “Broncos-sized” loss to its older sister – Disney’s Pop Century.  From the feedback I’ve received, many of you agree.

Happy Monday, my friends!  Ugh.  Monday.

What an Eye-“POP”ping Result!

Landslide!  Wow, what a result!  It truly was eye-popping!

With an astounding 64.79% of your support, Disney’s Pop Century Resort demolishes our former Value champion – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – to become the new All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Value Resort!

Why am I so shocked?  Well, it was a cakewalk!  After jumping out to a very early lead, POP just cruised to the title.  It was never a competition.  This wasn’t the case last year.  In fact, for 2012-13, Art won a head-to-head (one-on-one) duel with POP after receiving 60.32% of your votes!

Our three resort polls have been an interesting clinic for me this year.  I was concerned that after only twelve short months, we would never come up with a new result.  In actuality, however, the All in WDW audience has grown over time.  Our opinions have changed as well.

For example, this past December, we re-affirmed the Poly as our Favorite Deluxe.  But, it really was a battle.  One year earlier, with 60.4% of the finale vote, Disney’s Polynesian Resort utterly destroyed its competition.  This year, it was a much, much different story.  Only eight votes kept Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from dethroning “the champ”!

Last month, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside did pull off a coup in upsetting its French Quarter-themed sister resort from its perch atop the Moderate “mountain”.  With a slim, one-vote, victory, it became our first new champion of 2014.

Finally, there is POP.  Why did Disney’s Pop Century Resort flip-flop last year’s result and absolutely “take out” its next-door neighbor?  We have a theory.  Have you ever tried to book a rate for AoA?

Now, I’ll admit, if you have a large family, an Art of Animation suite will certainly afford you a lot more comfort by way of a larger room size.  It might even be a cost-savings … if you often need to book two rooms to house your clan.  It’s the AoA’s price-tag, however, that Mrs. All in WDW and I can’t get our arms around.

The currently-available Disney “Spring Vacation Offer” yields an early-April nightly rate of $335 for one of AoA’s suites.  Comparatively, you could get a standard room at POP for $143 per night.  Two rooms?  Way less than half the cost.

The “atmosphere” at Pop Century and Art of Animation are largely the same.   Lots of families and lots of children.  To be frank, we find it a pretty fun environment in spite of the sometimes space-crunching crowds.  Given the difference in price, we choose POP.

How about this?  A room at French Quarter (Riverside was not available) clocks in with a rate of $235 per night.  Or, a standard room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge clocks in at $347!  Only $12 more than the AoA suite?

You wouldn’t want a deluxe room amongst the animals if you could get one?  We’ll take it!  I’m sorry, in spite of all the excitement and “life” of AoA and/or POP, we would rather stay at any one of the Moderates.  Or, even a Deluxe, if we could swing it.

In the end, why did Disney’s Pop Century Resort just topple the former champion off the top of the mountain?  Cost.  Art of Animation was still the new “jewel” in late 2012 and early 2013.  Now, its affordability is bubbling to the surface.  Between POP and AoA, all other things being more-or-less equal, POP’s lower rate wins every time!

What do you all think?  Let us know!

Cheers! Have a great day!  Enjoy tonight’s big game!

I Love a Value! Don’t You?!

I can’t think of a better way to start off a month than with a poll.

It’s going to be a busy February, after all.  First, we have to finish our run through Walt Disney World’s resorts and “elect” ourselves an All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Value Resort.

Pop Century

Then, we’ll tackle Epcot.  More favorite attractions coming, folks!

Finally, amidst all of that action, we still have to sort out the menu for World Showcase’s upcoming “Food” & Garden festival.  Of course, that would actually include Disney telling us what is going to be on their menu this year.

Uh, can you get a move on it, Chefs?

Anyway, let’s hit the last of the resorts.  I love a value! Don’t you?  Tell me, folks.  Which one of these is our Favorite Value Resort?!  Vote, fans.  Vote!
