YOU are the Master of Buzz’s Fate! What’s the Verdict?

Good day, my friends!  I truly hope that Disney has someone following our re-imagineering activities.  Our verdict was absolutely emphatic, after all.

When it comes to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, we say “Rehabilitate” … by a landslide!  Almost 65% of you feel that Buzz needs a bit of a facelift.

What did you have to say?  Let’s see …

“They just need to make it work better!  So many issues with guns and spinners not working.  It’s frustrating waiting in a queue to not be able to enjoy the ride properly because you got the broken buggy.”

“Rehab to upgrade the firing systems and repair all of the malfunctions!  This attraction has far too many non-functional vehicles and guns.”

“It’s still a great ride, but I prefer the versions in California and Paris.  It would be great to have blasters that detach from the ride vehicle like those rides.  That, a fresh coat of paint, and maybe some new effects, and it will be great for years to come!”

“Rehabilitate it!  The Shanghai version is great.  The technology exists.  It just needs to be updated.  It’s a fun attraction when it works!”

Of course, Buzz got plenty of love too.  Check it out …

“Keep it!  It’s a family favorite and a Tomorrowland staple.”

“Please don’t remove it!  It was my dad’s favorite ride in the Magic Kingdom.  My youngest has yet to be able to ride it!”

“This has to be one of my top favorite rides!  I have so many good memories riding it and competing against family and friends.”

Wow!  It’s really clear that, in your minds and hearts, the Space Ranger still has a place in Walt Disney World!

Frankly, I tend to agree.  For me, however, I’d love to see the attraction moved over to ‘Toy Story Land’ in Hollywood Studios.

Of course, I know a full relocation of that sort is pretty impractical.  That being the case, I’ll take the refurb … especially if the guns don’t work.  Geez!

How Well DO You Know Tomorrowland’s Hyperactive Space Ranger?!

What a week, eh, folks!  Re-imagineering.  Trivia.  Nostalgic ride-through videos.  And, who was, more or less, at the center of all of it?  Buzz!  What a “hyperactive” Space Ranger, he is!

Before we move on to revealing Buzz’s re-imagined “fate”, if you haven’t participated in this week’s frivolity, please stop back and join in at:

Space Ranger Spin TRIVIA “Dash”!

Feeling Nostalgic, Folks? Take a “Dreamflight” at Disney!

Having said all of that, today, I’d like to pass along the answers to our trivia questions.  How well do you know Buzz?  Let’s see!

Trivia #1:  Magic Kingdom’s Space Ranger Spin officially opened on November 3, 1998.  So far, that has been your second-most popular answer.

Trivia #2:  Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin replaced Take Flight.  The most popular response received was Delta Dreamflight, but, in reality, that popular version of this dark ride was actually followed by both Dreamflight and Take Flight.

Trivia #3:  In the rides, Evil Emperor Zurg is attempting to steal Crystallic Fusion Cells … or batteries!  The majority of you got that one right, although Power Discs was a popular response as well.

Trivia #4:  Even though all share the same plot and major characters, the rides are named differently across Disney’s parks world-wide.  Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was the name used twice.

In fact, Both Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland offered their guests rides on Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters!  Most of you “scored” on this one too.  Great job!

Trivia #5:  In 2017, Disney closed the aforementioned Hong Kong Disneyland’s Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.  It is currently being replaced by a ride themed after the Marvel character … Ant-Man?  Really?  Like me, most of you were hoping for an Iron Man attraction.

Finally, I asked you to register your opinion – of Buzz and its various predecessors, your favorite is unquestionably Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin itself!  What a landslide!

Stop back tomorrow, my friends, and we’ll render your decision.  Rehabilitate?  Eliminate?  What say you?  We’ll discuss your verdict … as well as cover your comments!

Rehabilitate? Or, Eliminate? – Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! [Poll]

Greetings, my friends!  Welcome back!  Welcome back to our little corner of the Disney-verse!  Did you have a happy holiday season?  I certainly hope so!

Let’s start All in WDW’s 2018 off with a New Year’s “bang”, shall we?  Opened in 1998, the Magic Kingdom’s much-beloved Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will reach its 20th anniversary this year!

Of course, these days, being that long in the tooth opens up any attraction to Disney’s scrutiny.  That’s right, folks.  If The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios can be a “target” for replacement, so can Buzz.

So, referring back to the post’s title, what is this “rehabilitation or elimination” thing all about?  Well, if you’re new to the site, open up your imaginations, because it goes something like this …

Welcome to the The Walt Disney Company!  I hope you’re enjoying your “career” in Disney’s design and development division – Walt Disney Imagineering!

As you know, WDI is responsible for the creation and construction of Disney theme parks worldwide, and we need your help!  Tap into your creativity.  Imagine that you’re an … Imagineer!  Yes!  In fact, in today’s case, you’re a “re-imagineer”!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin!  Should we rehabilitate?  Leave the theme alone, but give it a bit of a facelift, maybe?  Should we eliminate?  Replace it with a new attraction altogether?  Or, should we simply leave it completely alone?

Your task, today, is a two-part job.  First, what’s your vote?  Second, if you want to rehabilitate, what do you suggest we do?  If you want to eliminate, what should take its place?  What’s your “Project Plan”?

Leave your comments on this post, on Facebook, or on Twitter, my friends!  This is what we do.  It’s Imagineering.  It’s “Re-Imagineering”!  We need your help!  Now, get to work!
