“Audio” Dining Recon: Big River Grille & Brewing Works

Good morning, my friends!  On our most-recent podcast, Doug and Dennis sit down for dinner at BoardWalk’s Big River Grille & Brewing Works.

Made with ground beef and Italian pork sausage and topped with a rich, brown gravy, how good was their Flame-Grilled Meatloaf?  Find out by listening to …

Menu “Recon”: BoardWalk Pizza Window

Good morning, my friends!  Before we jump into today’s delectable topic, one last time, let’s review the polls we ran last week.

Last Monday, we peered into the menu at Disney Springs’ B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. and chose what we wanted to order for lunch … or, dinner!

The result?  Their 3 Little Pigs Trio led the way!  Hey!  Why not have a little bit of “everything”?  It surely does look like a phenomenal bite!

On Thursday, we admitted Off Kilter into All in WDW’s Hall of Fame.  Congratulations, Off Kilter!  Did you agree with that selection?

Well, the voting is closed now, and your voice was loud and clear.  Over 76% of you say, ‘Yes!  They most certainly deserve to be honored’!  And, so they have been!

Finally, in that very same post, we scratched the surface of the debate that will never go away.  Maelstrom vs. Frozen!  Where do you stand?

Much to my personal pleasure, the original Norwegian adventure is also your choice.  Over 62% of you prefer it to Disney’s attempt to capitalize on all that is Frozen.

Today, folks, we’re back to food.  Big surprise, eh?  Before I launch us back to Disney Springs, I want to take a quick look at yet another BoardWalk favorite.  Pizza!

Let’s quote Disney … “Stroll down Disney’s BoardWalk with a hot slice in hand or order a whole pie to feed the entire family.

Take your pick from [among the] Cheese, Pepperoni or the Signature (Italian sausage, onions, peppers, and balsamic glaze) pizza[s]”!

Let’s see a show of hands … who, here, has had one of the ‘slices’ served by the BoardWalk’s “famous” pizza window?

Wait!  I can’t “see” you.  Answer these polls, instead!  Let’s see if you think that this BoardWalk Quick Service is worth filling your belly and putting a dent in your wallet!

Menu “Recon”: The [BoardWalk] To-Go Cart

What’s on tap for today, folks?  Well, like I said in yesterday’s B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. post, here we are with, you guessed it, more food!

We’ve left Disney Springs, for the moment, to ‘jet’ across property.  Where’d we land?  Disney’s BoardWalk, of course!

The very simply-named To-Go Cart is probably one of the most unheralded Quick Service stops in all of Walt Disney World.

A veritable ode to carnival food, the Cart’s menu covers, what seems like, every item you would find at your local county fair.

What would be my personal favorites?  Well, Fried Ravioli would top my list!  After that, either of To Go’s Corn Dogs would be a must.

How about you, my friends?  What would you order from this little-known spot?  Leave a comment and let us know!

The Best Bar on WDW Property?

Well, my friends, if the BoardWalk Resort’s Belle Vue Lounge isn’t the best bar on Walt Disney World property, it has to be one of the best themed!

Also referred to as the Belle Vue Room (by its bartenders), this quaint and beautifully-furnished venue is a throwback to yesteryear.

Mid 1900’s radio shows pour out of the speakers.  Wonderful cocktails are served by its small, yet well-stocked, bar.  Board games are even available for all to enjoy!

Open in the morning for, mainly, a Continental breakfast, the Belle Vue is a great way to spend an evening with a delicious refreshment, friends, and family.

Folks, everyone is flocking to nearby AbracadaBar.  The problem with that newly-opened venue is that it is very small.  Can’t find a seat there?  That’s not a shock.

Step upstairs to the Belle Vue Lounge.  It’s one of our favorite spots.  Much more laid back than its new, “magical”, competitor, for sure, but we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Dining Recon: Dinner at Trattoria al Forno

Good morning, folks!  A couple of weeks ago, I shared a visit to what Mrs. All in WDW and I think might be the very best breakfast on Walt Disney World property.

Where’d we go?  We dined at Trattoria al Forno, of course.  Oh, we love The Wave … of American Flavors.  We’re also partial to Captain’s Grille.  Trattoria, though, was other-worldly!

Click here to see Trattoria al Forno’s phenomenal Frittata!

My friends, we enjoyed our breakfast experience so much that we just had to stop back for dinner.  It didn’t start out that way, however.

What do I mean?  Well, we had scheduled a dinner with two friends at neighboring, and newly re-opened, Flying Fish.  A closer look at the menu, though, convinced us otherwise.

First, do you all remember the Fish’s famous Potato-wrapped Red Snapper?  Notably missing from their new menu, I’m afraid.

Then, I checked out Flying Fish’s prices.  For example, $46.00 for scallops?  Hopefully, unlike this picture on Disney’s site, they serve more than three?  We decided to pass.

Instead, we re-booked our ADR for a return visit to Trattoria … and its very friendly staff!

Trattoria’s dinner menu is quite expansive.  Choosing a dish was a challenge.  It all looks so good!  Fortunately, it tasted great as well!

Mrs. All in WDW and one of our friends selected different preparations of Trattoria’s Grilled Tuna.  Here it is, as advertised, with House-made Cavatelli.

And, if you don’t want pasta, ask for the dish with Seasonal Vegetables!  Mrs. All in WDW … ever healthy!

Myself, well, you know I’m weak when it comes to short ribs.  The Braised Short Rib Bolognese enticed both myself and our other friend.  Simply delicious!

Pleasantly, dinner was not the end.  We don’t usually indulge in dessert, my wife and I, but, this time, we couldn’t resist.

The group shared the Cannoli Pizzelle

… and an order of Zeppoli.  Fried dough?  We couldn’t resist!  What a clever presentation too!

Dinner was fantastic, everyone!  To be truthful, for me, breakfast “wins” by a slight margin, but the bottom line is that both of our meals at Trattoria were great!

Folks, we highly recommend Trattoria al Forno!  For the price, it’s the best restaurant on the BoardWalk, as far as we’re concerned.  Give it a chance!
