Our $80 Day of Dining at Epcot!

Good morning, folks!  Welcome to the weekend!  Hey!  We’re a bit late to the WDW Main Street “$80 a day” parties, but now that the gang has arrived at our favorite park, we’ll finally toss in our two cents!

Hear Doug, Dennis, John, and the cast of the Mickey Dudes Podcast at:

Episode #363 – $80 A Day at Epcot with The Mickey Dudes!

So.  What are the $80 a day “challenges”, you ask?  Well, what would you eat if you only had $80 to spend on food during your day at Epcot?

Trouble is … Mrs. All in WDW and I think that $80 per person is way too much.  We think we can do much, much better.  Will it be under $80 per couple, however?  Let’s see!

Breakfast:

Fountain View (featuring Starbucks coffee)!

Let’s face it … Mrs. All in WDW is one of the world’s biggest Starbucks fans.  Therefore, we’ll have to start with a breakfast in Future World.

We’ll order two Tall freshly brewed coffees – Pike Place Roast for the Mrs. and Veranda Blend Blonde Roast for me – at $2.49 per cup.

For food, I think that their Sausage, Egg, and Cheddar Classic Breakfast Sandwich ($4.99) is one of the best breakfast sandwiches anywhere!  Mrs. All in WDW will have an Almond Biscotti for $1.99.

Total (with tax): $12.80

Lunch:

Yorkshire County Fish Shop!

There’s no doubt.  One of our favorite activities is to enjoy some Fish and Chips while quenching our thirst in the Rose & Crown Pub.

Mmmmm.  Two crunchy, flaky, delicious strips of Fish served with Chips!  We’ll take two orders please … at $10.99 each.

Then, how about two pints?  Mrs. All in WDW will take a blend of Bass and Harp.  It is a Specialty Blend called a Golden.  Price? $9.00!

Myself?  The only place I ever have one of these is at WDW – a Boddingtons English Pub Ale.  Another $9.00!

Total (with tax AND tip): Yorkshire ($23.52) and Rose ($23.26)

Finally, dinner at …

Sunshine Seasons

We might share, to be honest. Let’s order their Oak-grilled Rotisserie Chicken.  It’s normally served with Black Beans and Yellow Rice for $12.29.

How about the Pork Loin?  Served with Mashed Potatoes, Barbecue Sauce, and Corn on the Cob, it’s $13.99.

Mrs. All in WDW and I would likely ask for some “subs” on the sides, however.  Sunshine’s Oak-grilled Salmon is typically served with green beans.

We’d ask to sub all of the black beans, rice, mashed potatoes, etc. with green beans, I’m pretty sure.  They’ve done it for us many times before!

Finally, we’d need to wash dinner down with another beverage.  We’d prefer two Yuenglings at $6.50 a can!

Total (with tax): $42.03

How’d we do, my friends?  Did we stay under budget?  Let me get my calculator.  Hmmmm …

Breakfast: $12.80
Lunch: $46.78
Dinner: $42.03

Grand Total: $101.61

Nuts!  We couldn’t do it!  Of course, we could drop the beer.  That would keep us in line, but, then, it’s vacation!  Budget be darned, we have to have adult beverages!  Cheers, everyone!

Take a Trolley into Tuesday! Dining Recon: The Trolley Car Café!

I don’t know about you folks, but it’s early Tuesday morning, and I can surely use a nice, hot cup of “joe”.  From Starbucks!

Whenever Mrs. All in WDW and I pay an early-morning visit to Epcot, our first stop is the Fountain View.  Mmmm.  Coffee.  Starbucks coffee.  I know.  Not everyone is a ‘bucks fan.

Well, this past weekend, we got our chance to take our first look at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ answer to great java – The Trolley Car Café!  Yay!

Find it at the corner of Hollywood & Vine …

Nothing fancy for us … just plain, old Pike Place Roast.  Accompanied by a Bacon, Egg, and Gouda Artisan Sandwich, it was a nice, little breakfast!  Yum!

Nicely themed, and not overly crowded, we’ll make this our initial stop every time we visit WDW’s “disappearing” Hollywood haven.  You love Starbuck’s?  This is your spot!

Disney “Mug-o-Mania”!

All this talk about Starbucks’ new WDW “You Are Here Collection” coffee cups has fans far-and-wide wound up into a mug-related frenzy.  You’ve seen them, I’m sure.

Starbucks Mugs

Well, I was recently on a social media site whose Disney forum had spun into a string of posts that could only be described as Disney “Mug-o-Mania”!  On major steroids!

Fans from all over the world were posting pictures of their mugs.  Mugs were displayed by the pairs … and, by the DOZENS!  Uh, yes.  Dozens!  To see is to believe!

Tons of Mugs

Anyway, this put me to thinking.  What are my favorite Disney mugs?  Well, I don’t have a collection, per se, but I do have some favorites.  For example, refillable mugs come and go, but resort mugs are hard to find.

Coronado Springs, of course!

Mrs. All in WDW and I got these two beauties, this past Christmas, from a long-time friend of ours – a colleague of mine from work …

What a friend!  Now, she knows how much we love Walt Disney World!  What a great gift!

How about you?  Do you have a Disney mug collection?  Do you have your favorite mug for enjoying your morning “cup-o-joe”?  Post a picture!  We want to see it!

Reply to All in WDW on Twitter or on Facebook.  Let’s see your mugs!

There’s Never Enough Starbucks … Is There?!

Starbucks!  Starbucks! Starbucks!  Come on, there’s never enough Starbucks, is there?!

I know a few of you aren’t sold, but I’m surrounded by family, friends, and fans who love the fact that Starbucks has “invaded” Walt Disney World.  Yes, even in my own house!

A few weeks ago, I reported that Hollywood Studios was working on constructing The Trolley Car Café – the park’s “soon-to-be-opened” Starbucks location – at the corner of Hollywood and Vine.

Do you remember that “Dining” Recon?  No?  Oh, please stop back and check it out!  Anyway, back then, here were the construction walls!

Great news!  Last Saturday night, I discovered that those walls are down.  Well, sort of.  Enough of them are gone to see the front of the new establishment and its signage.  See?

Let us in, Starbucks!

Let us in, Starbucks!

The Trolley Car Cafe!

The Trolley Car Cafe!  The sign’s not lit yet, but we’ll be drinking “joe” here soon, I’ll bet!

Can’t wait to see the menu that will fill this box!

My apologies for the relatively poor pictures, my friends.  It was about 8:00 PM when I shot these, and lighting was not at its best.  That’s OK, though.  I’m sure the coffee will be outstanding!

Coming soon!  Another delicious caffeine fix!  Yay!

“Dining” Recon: The Trolley Car Café? A “Star-Studded” Starbucks Sighting!

Construction walls.  If you’ve been down to Orlando, you’ve seen them, I’m sure.  They’re Disney’s favorite park and resort “decorations”, these days, and they’re popping up all over the place.

In Hollywood Studios, at the corner of Hollywood and Vine, we found this unsightly obstruction.

It’s the site of The Trolley Car Café – the park’s “soon-to-be-opened” Starbucks location!

As reported by Disney Parks Blog in late August, “The new store … will be themed to a classic trolley car station along Hollywood Boulevard and offer a unique experience for coffee lovers visiting the park.”  It is set to open next February.

I can tell you one thing, Mrs. All in WDW can’t wait to make her first visit!  How about you?
