Post “Game” Analysis: Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Like I said a few weeks ago, after we concluded our tour through the Animal Kingdom, every “game” has it’s excruciatingly-detailed post “game” analysis.

So, by way of tossing a few “statistics” your way, here’s a peak “behind the curtain” – or behind the numbers – when it comes to this week’s triumph by the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror …

As voted by you this past Monday, the FINAL Top 4 were:

  1. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  2. Toy Story Midway Mania!
  3. Fantasmic!
  4. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

But, even though Tower conquered its “foes” in that four-way head-to-head competition, here’s the Final Four if we were to list them by overall vote totals received for the entire competition:

  1. Toy Story Midway Mania!
  2. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  3. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  4. Fantasmic!

What?!  How’s this?  Toy Story wins?  Rock ‘n’ Roller leaps up from 4th to 2nd?  A place it “owned” in both 2013 and 2014!  Why?

Here’s the aforementioned “Top 4” with overall vote totals received for the entire competition:

  1. Toy Story Midway Mania!  –  177
  2. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith  –  146
  3. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror  –  145
  4. Fantasmic!  –  117

Wow!  Not even close!

Finally, check out this Round 2 “score”:

  1. Toy Story Midway Mania!  –  69
  2. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror  –  56

Stuck with each other in the semi-finals, the Tower just couldn’t get the job done.  Good thing for “thrill ride” fans, it rose to the occasion when it really counted.

I guess the lessons learned are:

  • These four beloved attractions are so close in popularity that it was anyone’s game all along!
  • Early-Round match-ups make a big difference.  Going into the finale, Toy Story led Rock ‘n’ Roller by 18 overall votes.  It led Tower by 34!

Finally, in spite of Disney’s crusade to eliminate most anything of interest in Hollywood, the biggest thing I learned by watching you vote this week was that there are still plenty of entertaining things to do when you visit the Studios.

In fact, if any of my friends ask me for my recommendation as to what attractions they should focus upon when they visit this “park-in-transition”, I’ll tell them to use your “new” Top 10!  They’ll be sure to have a blast!

  1. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  2. Toy Story Midway Mania!
  3. Fantasmic!
  4. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  5. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
  6. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
  7. The Great Movie Ride
  8. Muppet Vision 3D
  9. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
  10. Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream
