French Trivia Answered! Who Misses the Earffel Tower? [Poll]

Marvelous Monday, my friends!  Shake off those beginning-of-the-week blues and get after the week!

So … did you tackle yesterday’s trivia question?  No?  Here’s your chance to take a step back and test your Epcot IQ … click this link!

How tall is Disney’s version of France’s Eiffel Tower, you ask?  Why, it reaches 103 feet into the Florida sky!

The challenge turned out to be a little bit tougher than I expected.  Only 24% of you got it right!  Congrats to those of you who scored with the correct choice.

Of course, the Eiffel Tower inspired another piece of Walt Disney World, as well.  Even if it was by its name only.

Opened on May 1, 1989, the Earffel Tower was once a Hollywood Studios park icon.

Based on water towers commonly found in 20th century movie studios, Disney closed this structure on April 29, 2016.  It leads me to ask …

“Paddling” to Victory! The WDW Table Service Draft Champ is Crowned!

Good morning, folks!  Happy Monday?  I know.  I’m not very happy about the fact, either.  Let’s talk about something more pleasant, shall we?  How about … Disney Dining!

Every good “competition” needs a re-cap, doesn’t it?  Well, here is my handful of “cents” as to why this past weekend’s Table Service Draft poll ended up as it did.

Did you listen to the show?  Did you vote?  Did you catch the results?  If you need some reminders, click these links …

The “Live” Podcast!
The “Scoreboard”!

What a wild ride!  You know, just after the draft ended, I found myself convinced that this was going to be an epic “horse race”.  Having said that, I was confident in my “team”.

Before I tell you why, let’s take a look at the culinary “empires” constructed by my comrades …

Dennis Conroy built an impressive collection of MY personal favorites.  The BOATHOUSE.  Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room.  Kona Cafe.

All of them are phenomenal … and, all of them are home to some of my favorite dishes on WDW property – Firecracker Shrimp, Bangers and Mash, and Pan-Asian Noodles with Chicken!

To see pictures of these three delicacies, check out the “still being built” WDW Main Street Pub Menu!  Yum!

Hey!  But, shouldn’t Be Our Guest Restaurant have put him over-the-top?  Belle and her beast weren’t quite enough, it seems.

John Peters capitalized on the character-filled popularity of Tusker House Restaurant, Chef Mickey’s, Cape May Cafe, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and Cinderella’s Royal Table to power his conglomerate.

Of course, it didn’t end there.  Excellent strategy led John to claim several Signature favorites – Le Cellier Steakhouse, Flying Fish, and Victoria & Albert’s.  Strong effort, John!

With a group that included Jiko – The Cooking Place, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Morimoto Asia, Yak & Yeti Restaurant, and Spice Road Table, Doug Davis was true to his heart.  Only the “theft” of his Rose kept him from his own personal “Dream Team”.

Finally, that brings me to my “crew”.  What logic did I follow as I selected my restaurants?  Well, first, I owe Mr. Davis my thanks.

Why?  He kindly passed on my centerpiece – the “Crown Jewel” of Disney Springs.  Yes, my friends, Paddlefish led the way for my group!

I saw one comment from a reader – Curt Stone of the Geekin’ on WDW Podcast.  He summed up his feelings with, “Bob, you’re the only one with O’hana.  You win!”  Thanks, Curt!  Its selection was very intentional.

The science behind my choices was pretty straightforward, to be frank.  I mixed some traditional, old favorites – ‘Ohana, California Grill, Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Liberty Tree Tavern – with some brand new “attractions” – Paddlefish and Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’.

At the same time, I worked hard to cover the spectrum of cuisines and experiences – seafood, character opportunities, buffets, Signature dining, Italian, steakhouse, homestyle, barbecue, and bowling!

What did that all get me?  Well, it certainly was a clear-cut recipe for a hard-fought victory!

My friends, thank you from all four of us for your dedicated participation over the last few days.  We hope you enjoyed the show.  We hope you had fun with the vote!  See ya’ again … sometime really soon!

Pick the “Winner”! It’s the 2017 WDW Table Service Restaurant Draft! VOTE!

It’s Friday, folks!  Yahoo!  So.  How should we celebrate?  Well, with a good old traditional All in WDW poll, of course!

The EPIC Disney Table Service Restaurant Draft is Here!

Yes, my friends.  Draft season is among us.  What can we, here at All in WDW and WDW Main Street, dream up this year?

What am I talking about, you ask?  Draft season?  Well, those of you who have been following us for quite some time will remember the spectacle of the 2015 Fantasy Parks Draft.

Huh?  What was that?  Folks, to relive the magnificence – to find your way to all six (yes, I said “six”) episodes – click here …

Our Fantasy Parks Are Complete!  Which One Reigns Supreme?

In that post, you’ll find links to the shows, you’ll discover who “ruled the roost” (uh, spoiler, it was me), and you’ll discover a .pdf link detailing each one of our “fantasy parks”.

Take a look!  At the very least, “reading” the .pdf is worth the time!

So.  Back to the original question … what can we cook up this year?  The post’s title says it all.  Welcome to the WDW Table Service Restaurant Draft!

The latest episode of the WDW Main Street Podcast dropped last night (link below).  Listen to Doug, Dennis, John and I as we each make our ten selections.

WDW Main Street – Episode #350 – The EPIC Disney Table Service Restaurant Draft!

What’s YOUR Favorite WDW Nighttime Spectacular?! [Polls]

My thanks go out to John Peters for his two great posts – published yesterday and the day before.  With …

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Brightened by Rivers of Light! – and – Want Your Own Piece of Rivers of Light? Here’s Some “Merch”!

… he’s inspired me to ask you a few quick questions.  What questions, you ask?  Well, what is your Favorite WDW Nighttime Spectacular?

The “landscape” is changing, isn’t it, folks?  For example, as John pointed out, Wishes nighttime spectacular ends in a few short weeks – on May 11th.

In its place, starting May 12th, the Magic Kingdom will present the Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular.

What in “The World” is that, you wonder?  Described by Disney Parks Blog, it will … “inspire guests to seek out and find their own ‘Happily Ever After’ by showcasing some of the greatest adventures Disney characters have taken to achieve their dreams.

The show will feature the latest fireworks and pyrotechnics and original animation, plus a heart-tugging original score.”  Also, “more Disney characters than ever before will be featured in the show.”

In addition, it will include “moments from Moana, Brave, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, The Princess & The Frog, Aladdin and many others.”

Wow!  Sounds great, eh?  Well, I guess we’ll have to wait until May 12th to see.  Hey!  Maybe if we’re lucky, John will pop in on Opening Night to give us a live report!

In the meantime, I’d like you to answer me this … of the FIVE attractions that John listed in yesterday’s post, what is your favorite?

[]

Now, let me complicate things a bit.  You’ve read the description above.  What is your favorite when I replace Wishes with Happily Ever After?

Three new attractions.  Two old favorites.  Which will win?  One of the shiny, new, exciting “newbies”?  A beloved, traditional “gem”?  Let’s see!
