We Sure DO Love OUR Monorail, Don’t We?!

Oh, yes, we do.  Just take a look at yesterday’s results!

I won’t ask you to look back, but Walt Disney World’s monorail won this “competition” back in 2013 as well.  In fact, back then, it was victorious in a runaway landslide fashion!

New Bus and Monorail Red

Of course, our beloved, colorful “train in the sky” still ran out to an early and insurmountable lead yesterday.  Really, the result was never in doubt.

Having said that, Disney’s naval flotilla took its best shot at toppling the monorail off its perch.  The three watercraft options provided in yesterday’s poll finished in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.

It all amounts to this … Disney’s most unique method of cruising through “The Kingdom” is still the All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Transportation!

Be sure to come back tomorrow, my friends!  The poll to “elect” our favorite Deluxe resort kicks off first-thing Monday morning!  Cheers!  And, have a great Sunday!

A Contemporary Moment!

Sometimes a picture is worth a 1,000 words, or, in this case, a million bucks!  It’s simple.  You just have to be in the right place … at the right time!

Take this great shot, for example.  In this instance, the “prize” goes out to our son.  What a fantastic picture!  Great photography!

As we cruised past Disney’s Contemporary Resort, he caught both the hotel and an unexpected special guest appearance by “our” beloved monorail!

It put me to thought.  I’m always finding new ways to capture Disney’s modes of transportation on “film”.  Whether it be buses, boats, or “trains”, they all make for great, colorful pictures.

So … what is our favorite form of WDW transportation?  Well, a little more than two years ago, I ran a poll very similar to the one below.  I think it’s long past time for a repeat.

Are you like me?  Do you love the buses?  Yes, I’m in the vast minority, it seems, but I do love those Disney buses.  But, then again, I adore the monorail.

How about you?  Which one of these is your favorite form of WDW transportation?

In the group below, you can vote for THREE options.  In the end, today’s top vote-getter will be “crowned” as “king”!  Cheers, my friends!  VOTE!

Did You Tackle Thursday’s Tiki Trivia Trio? Get The Answers Here!

Good morning, my friends!  I hope you’ve had a great week.  Welcome to Friday!

It’s been a bit of a tougher-than-expected week around our parts, so I’m going to make today short and sweet.

Did you tackle yesterday’s “Tiki Trivia Trio”?  No?  Then, by all means, please stop back here to take your shot!  Yes?  Then, the answers you’re craving to see are coming right up!

#1 – Originally introduced on Magic Kingdom’s Opening Day – October 1, 1971 – “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” was originally opened as Tropical Serenade.

Great work, fans.  Over 51% of you got that right!

The attraction became “The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management)” in 1998.

According to Wikipedia, on January 12, 2011, a small fire broke out in the attic of the attraction.  A key audio-animatronic figure was severely damaged in the blaze.

As a result, the tiki room was refurbished and returned to the original show’s format.  It re-opened on August 15, 2011 as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

The current version is a slightly edited version of Disneyland’s original show.

#2 – The Enchanted Tiki Room show is hosted by four feathered friends.  Of the names provided in the question, Jacques is not a member of that quartet!

This one was a little bit tougher, it seems.  Your most-popular response was Michael, but he is a member of the group made up of himself, Fritz, José, and Pierre!

#3 – As I mentioned, above, the room was once presented as “The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management”.  That version of the attraction was hosted by Iago and Zazu!

Of course, you didn’t need me to tell you that.  Almost 90% of you already knew it and answered the question correctly!  Wow, you’re good!

By the way, do you remember me mentioning that key audio-animatronic figure that was severely damaged in the 2011 attic fire?  That was poor Iago.  A fitting end for Jafar’s sometimes nefarious and greedy minion?  Hmmm.  Maybe.

I hope you did well in our three-question quiz, my friends!  Have a great weekend!

Hey! It’s the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room! Time for a Ton of Trivia!

In our opinion, “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” is a timeless classic.  We don’t visit it every trip, but it’s still a family favorite.

Multiple forms of the show have existed throughout the years, you know.  And, versions “live” at other worldwide parks, as well.  But, as far as we’re concerned, WDW is where this attraction is “at”!

Originally introduced on Magic Kingdom’s Opening Day – October 1, 1971 – it was originally opened as …

The Enchanted Tiki Room show is hosted by four feathered friends.  Which one of these is NOT a member of that quartet?

At one point, the attraction was re-furbed and re-named as “The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management”.  That version was hosted by …

Thanks for playing, my friends!  How’d you do on this little “test”?  We’ll see … answers will be published tomorrow!

Any “Port” in a Storm? The “Big Easy” Wins!

And, did it ever!  Wow!  Dueling resorts!  Razor-close finish!  Between the two Orleans resorts, almost 75% of your vote?  75%?!  What a day!

Actually, this year, at first, I thought it wasn’t going to be all that close.  French Quarter jumped out to an early, and quite large, lead.

Then, Riverside came roaring back.  From that point on, the “battle” became a spectacle … a metaphorical horse race!

In the end, what it really became was a repeat … of sorts.  How so?

Some of you folks might not remember this, but this “competition” was won by Port Orleans – French Quarter “way” back in 2013.

Yesterday’s rival – its sister down the river – actually dethroned it last year.  Port Orleans – Riverside won your favor in 2014.

Well, if there’s justice in rematches, Walt Disney World’s homage to the Big Easy’s “Old Square” has seen that “wrong” get “righted”.  By the slimmest of margins, French Quarter is the 2015 readers’ choice!

What do I think about the result?  I think you already know.

I still say that Coronado is way too under-appreciated.  But, that’s OK.  It only adds up to more room “at the inn” for the All in WDW family to enjoy!

How about you?  Are you thrilled?  I think so …

“We have stayed at French Quarter twice and Riverside once.  Both are beautiful, and I might even like the Riverside theme better.  However, the size and one bus stop at French Quarter wins it for me.  However, you can’t go wrong with either.”

“I love French Quarter the best.  The size is perfect.  The theme is so relaxed.  The river-view rooms are perfect.”

“We love how small French Quarter is … yet, the amenities are not decreased.  It’s even the first bus stop.  And, it’s an easy walk to Riverside to share in their table service and see Yehaa Bob.  It’s easy to get a boat ride to Downtown Disney.”

Great comments, all!  Great resorts, both halves of the “Port”.  Great competitions, my friends!  Port Orleans – French Quarter is the 2015 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Moderate Resort!

You see, my friends?  Even I can appreciate our Moderate “champ”!
