Have you ever visited “The French Quarter”? Also known as the Vieux Carré – “Old Square” in English – The French Quarter is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans.
But, no, my friends, I’m not asking you about that famous historic district in Louisiana’s “Big Easy”. Did you know that The French Quarter was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965, by the way? Interesting trivia.
Anyway, when I ask you about “The French Quarter”, I’m actually referring to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. Hey, this is a Disney site! Of course, I am, eh?
Inspired by the aforementioned historic Louisianan central square, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is a perfect place to both take a leisurely stroll or rest and recreate.
On a recent trip to Orlando, Mrs. All in WDW and I did just that “our way”. How? By combining a quick lunch from the resort’s Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory with an afternoon refreshment at its pool bar – Mardi Grogs!
Enjoy!
It all started at Mardi Grogs.
If Mrs. All in WDW and I have a Top 10 when it comes to WDW’s bars, Mardi Grogs is in the running for #2. Of course, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort’s Laguna Bar is the undisputed #1!
Mardi Grogs doesn’t serve food, so you have to take a short walk to the resort’s main building to visit the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for lunch or dinner.
Hmm. In search of a good, old-fashioned Po’ Boy …
Yes! Bullseye!
Fried shrimp galore. Fresh house-made chips. Perfect for sharing!
Of course, how could we forget “dessert”? Authentic New Orleans beignets! Yum!
It was a great afternoon. Lots of sunshine. A friendly bartender. A delicious lunch. And …
New friends! Hey, one of these guys is getting just a little bit “out of control”! Hmm.
