It’s All About the Show!

Yes, it’s all about the show.  It has to be!

We have a “champ”, my friends.  It is the phenomenally-popular, Polynesian-themed meat-fest ‘Ohana!

This result doesn’t surprise me one little bit.  After all, All in WDW’s polls are the epitome of popularity contests, and Disney’s Polynesian Resort (soon to be called Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) is an extremely popular WDW destination.

Likewise, its flagship dining experience, ‘Ohana, is an absolute favorite of many.  In fact, we, ourselves, have already named ‘Ohana as our Favorite Buffet/Family Style, Favorite Monorail Loop, and Favorite Resorts Table Service Restaurant!

One more “title” seems very fitting and falls right into place!

Skewers

Skewers, and skewers, and skewers!

Why are we fascinated with this dining juggernaut? Many reasons! Take the restaurant’s theming, for example.  ‘Ohana’s quasi-luau motif is fantastic.

Having said that, the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s theming – as well as that for Boma and Sanaa – is exquisite as well.  Don’t you just love watching the zebras and giraffes roaming around just outside Sanaa’s windows?

How about California Grill?  It owns that fabulous view of Disney’s Magic Kingdom!  A late night dinner with Wishes, anyone?

Even Le Cellier’s cellar displays an alluring charm … a pleasant, comfortable, rustic Canadian charm.  Come to think of it, I guess ‘Ohana doesn’t hold a patent on creative and enjoyable theming!

How about the food?  Admit it … who here isn’t drawn to the prospect of being served endless skewers of meat?  Of course, it would be better if chicken hadn’t been recently removed from their menu, but ‘Ohana does still offer steak, shrimp, and pork.

And, then there’s the Banana Bread Pudding!

OK. I admit it. 'Ohana's bread pudding IS pretty delicious!

OK. I admit it. ‘Ohana’s bread pudding IS pretty delicious!

Of course, did you know that Boma serves a great bread pudding as well?  Not typically served with ice cream, we asked for a scoop on our last visit.  Our server happily secured us a helping of vanilla … which elevated the dessert into the stratosphere!

In fact, as an alternative, consider the variety, creativity, and unique flavors of Boma.  Probably the closest comparison amidst our Final Five, I’ve heard more than one fan comment that Boma’s offering surpasses that of ‘Ohana.  Honestly, I, personally, tend to agree.

Indeed, the food offered by Sanaa, California Grill, and Le Cellier are impressive as well!

My point?  All five of these restaurants serve a great meal, and some fans would argue that, although good, ‘Ohana might not necessarily be the best of the bunch.

So, what sets ‘Ohana apart, then?  It’s the show.  Billed by Disney as “Dinner with Hawaiian Hospitality”, “[t]he call of a conch shell welcomes you to an evening of Hawaiian-flavored specialties, storytelling, and games.”

Disney asks you to “… delight in coconut races in which children armed with brooms sweep coconuts across the restaurant’s hardwood floors.”  They urge everyone “… to play with hula hoops and dance to island music.”  You won’t find that when you dine at one of the other four finalists!

Look, in the spirit of its name, ‘Ohana is family.  It’s an enjoyable evening with your loved ones and friends.  It’s fun with, and for, your children in a tropical paradise that they might never get a chance to see.  It’s the joy of the show!

Why do we vote for ‘Ohana?  It’s the memories.  Oh, we’ll have memories of eating at any of the other Table Services, as well, but will they stand out as much as those we make at ‘Ohana?  Clearly not … or, we wouldn’t keep voting it “king”!

‘Ohana?  You are our ultimate dining experience.  You are the All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Table Service Restaurant!

A Surprising FINALE! Which will become OUR Favorite WDW Table Service Restaurant? VOTE!

Around 7 PM last night, I stopped by the website to check on yesterday’s polls.  What I found left me stunned!

Over 100 votes in, and what did I find?  Six of our eight semi-finalists were still in the running for a spot in our Final Four!  Six!  And, I’m not talking about them being several votes out of contention.  Restaurants #5 and #6 were merely one vote out of their group’s Top 2!  One!

I have said it a few times over the last few days.  I knew that each round of this competition was going to be tremendously close.

Having said that, I think I might have underestimated the popularity of each and every one of these tables services.  This really has been anybody’s game!

Boma Carving Station

Boma’s delicious carving station. Yum!

In the end, by the slimmest of slim margins, we DO have a “Final Five”.  Huh?  Five?  Yes, five.

Ordinarily, I would ask someone (usually Mrs. All in WDW) to break the tie between California Grill and Sanaa.  After watching yesterday’s “war”, however, I just didn’t have the heart to eliminate a restaurant by one solicited vote.  Hey, it was hard enough to bring myself to exclude Via Napoli after it fell just two votes shorts of the same fate.

So, here we are!  It’s time for you to vote one … more … time!  My friends, which one of these dining delights is the All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Table Service Restaurant? VOTE!

Only Eight WDW Table Services Left! Vote For Your Favorite!

You have to give me a little bit of credit, don’t you?  After all, I did tell you that yesterday’s votes were going to be razor close, didn’t I?  They lived up to expectations!  What an exciting day it was!

Of course, the results tell us something that we already knew, don’t they?  WDW is loaded with fantastic Table Service dining options!

They also suggest that, with these restaurants so closely matched, determining which is our ultimate favorite might remain a mystery until our very last vote is cast!

Mmm. Kona Cafe's Tonga Toast!

Mmm. Kona Cafe’s Tonga Toast!

Take a look at yesterday’s Group #1, for example:

Kona Café – 21 votes
Boma – Flavors of Africa – 21
Raglan Road™ Irish Pub and Restaurant – 20

Yikes!  Raglan misses the semi-final round by a vote?!  Wow!

How about this?  Our semi-final restaurants enter the 4th Round by scoring 29, 24, 21, 21, 21, 21, 20, and 20 votes in Round 3!  I’m telling you … any one of these Table Services can win the All in WDW Readers’ “crown”!

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see this mystery revealed!  So, let’s get on with it.  You have three votes left – two today and one tomorrow.  Don’t forget to VOTE over the next two days!  Let your voices be heard!

Today?  VOTE for ONE Table Service in each of the two groups below. The Top 2 finishers in each group will move on to the BIG Finale!
