No Love For Turkey Legs?!

Or, is it no love for smoked meats?  About a day into our “smokin’ poll”, this comment, from one of our friends on Twitter, was quite an indictment …

“How can eight people vote ‘Neither’?!”

Actually, when all was finished, 33% of you elected to decline either “snack”.  I have to tell you, I threw the option, “Neither”, in at the last minute.  I never expected it to be so “popular”!

In the end, however, Gaston Tavern’s Pork Shank ruled the day(s) with 45% of your support.  Turkey legs never had a chance.

Although Gaston earned my vote as well, I’m a bit surprised by the outcome. First, WDW’s turkey legs live in infamy! They have their own t-shirts, for Pete’s sake!

Second, they can be found in every park. I was expecting the leg’s greater availability to plain out-number the pork’s popularity.

I think our WDW Main Street friend, Dennis Conroy, summed it up best … “The Pork Shank blows the Turkey Leg out of the water!”

Yes, Dennis. We all agree. It certainly does!

What a Smokin’ Showdown! What’s your vote?!

Good morning, all!  We received an interesting question in response to yesterday’s Gaston’s Tavern post.

Did you catch that “Dining Recon”, by the way?  If not, please stop back and take a look!  You know you want to see the pictures, at least.  Yes?

Mmmm.  Pork Shank!  Oh, OK.  Here’s the pork …

Look back at yesterday’s piece to see the Cinammon Roll (er, loaf)!

Anyway, one of All in WDW’s dear Facebook friends asked, “I have never had the turkey leg or the pork shank.  Is there a similarity, or are they completely different?”

I’m not a big fan of turkey, so I offered up Mrs. All in WDW’s review …

“They’re completely different, but Pork Shank, hands down!”  She’d even add that the Pork Shank is both more tender and moist.

Everyone has a preference, eh?  Of course, that led me to wonder … which would YOU prefer?  Well, which?

Cast your VOTE, this morning, my friends!  Turkey or pork?  You choose!

Everything from Soup to Nuts!

Every once in a while you have to stop in your tracks and take the time to tie up all the loose ends you left for your readers earlier in the week.

For example, do you want to know what I have been forgetting to do?  Enter Disney’s Family Time Resolutions Sweepstakes, that’s what!

You know what that means?  Someone else won my trip to Disneyland!  It’s really quick and easy, folks.  Please don’t be like me … remember to submit your daily entries!  I would love to see one of you win!

Did you nominate your favorite snack for the 2014 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Snack poll?  Did you?  Oh, we received some delicious entries.  For example, as proclaimed by one reader, “Anything from Karamell-Küche!”

Karamell-Küche

Mmmm, yes you’re right.  Anything caramel is a very good thing.

But, then, there were Mickey Bars, funnel cakes, School Bread!  How in the world did I forget School Bread?!  Jalapeño Cheese-Stuffed Pretzels, Mickey Pretzels, Dole Whip, Dole Whip Floats, Caramel Apples, and on, and on, and on!

But is that it?  Is that all you’ve got?  No?  Then, leave a comment on this post, on Facebook, or on Twitter.  What other snacks earn the right to compete to be called the All in WDW Readers’ Favorite WDW Snack?

Yesterday, I quizzed you on The World of All in WDW.  First, I asked, “Of these World Showcase countries (Norway, Morocco, China, and Japan), which one was the last to visit All in WDW?

I cannot tell you how long I waited for Showcase Country #11 to arrive in The World.  In fact, I remember telling Mrs. All in WDW that I never expected that anyone from China would ever take a trip to visit All in WDW.  Yet, it finally happened, and our World Showcase was complete.

WordPress is an interesting piece of blogging software.  It gives you easy access to site statistics, but, unless you’re watching on a daily basis, there are some things you can miss.  Hence, my second question was a trick question, of sorts.

Of the 106 countries that have touched All in WDW’s life, which one of these was the 100th to honor us with their presence?

Well, it could have been the Southeast African nation of Uganda.

It might have been the Syrian Arab Republic – the official name of the Middle Eastern country of Syria.

Or, maybe it was the Island of Guernsey, a small British dependency in the English Channel off the coast of France with an area of 30 square miles and a population of just over 65,000 people.

Sadly, I can’t really tell.  But, if you answered any of these, your guess was right on target!

Have a great Saturday, my friends.  Holy smokes, I’m glad the weekend is finally here!  Aren’t you?

Hello? Calling All WDW Snacks!

Hello?  Calling all snacks!  Huh?  Who are you trying to call, Bob?

Actually, this one is a “call to arms” of sorts.  As I look at our Readers’ Favorites calendar for 2014, I think about the things we accomplished in 2013.  I also recognize one really glaring omission.  Snacks.

I’m being a bit hard on myself, I think.  I have tried, but really struggled, to think of a fair way to do a Favorite WDW Snack poll.

Really, it’s just because there are SO many great snacks to grab in Walt Disney World.  Frankly, I’ve been terrified to choose a somewhat limited (16 items or so) list as the 1st Round of a poll only to leave one of your favorites out in the cold!

Mmmm. Dole Whip!

Mmmm. Dole Whip!

Then, it occurred to me to ask you for your help!  A few days ago, I encouraged you to let me know if you have an idea for a Favorites poll.  Today, I’m going to ask you to toss me some of your favorite WDW-related snacks.

Some things are really, really obvious, right?  Mickey Bars or Pretzels.  Dole Whip.  Carrot Cake Cookie.  Butterfinger Cupcake.

Is a Turkey Leg a snack?  No, really.  Please tell me. Do you consider a Turkey Leg a snack?  How about drinks?  Should we count things like LeFou’s Brew?

See what I mean, though?  I have no idea what to put on the list!

So, here’s what I have in mind.  You can respond on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, tumblr, or right here on All in WDW.  What snack do YOU want to see nominated for the competition to become the All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Snack?

Get to it, my friends!  Help me build the poll.

Oh, and don’t forget!  Is a Turkey Leg a snack?!  Should we consider LeFou’s Brew for the “title”? I really don’t know!

Cheers!
