All in WDW in “The Carnival”!

I have to tell you … Monday’s are typically unpleasant, but after being off for most of the holiday week last week, yesterday was downright rough.  Going back to “the real world” can be such a bummer, can’t it?

Good thing for me, then, that Lynn of The Best of Disney brought some much-needed sunshine (er, Disney “magic”) to my day.  She sent me a very well-timed email informing me that one of my posts was being featured in Edition #1 of “The Best of Disney Blog Carnival”!  Thanks, Lynn!

When I submitted the piece for inclusion, I thought about what post (or series of posts) best-described All in WDW over the last few months.  I settled on a “blast from the past”.  At the top of the list, under “Food & Dining”, you’ll find that “It’s All in WDW presents Back for MORE Food & Wine! – The All in WDW 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Top 25”!

Yes, it’s my final Food & Wine recap.  I know, it’ll be a refresher to many of you, but it will be an introduction for some.  What did I “Recommend”?  What was “Just OK”?  What dishes failed completely?  Stop over to The Best of Disney Blog Carnival to find out!

Then, while you’re there, check out other great work by such sites as The Adult Side of Disney, Disney Dose, Dad’s Guide to WDW, and many others!

In Lynn’s own words, “Welcome to the FIRST edition of The Best of Disney Blog Carnival! We are so excited to start bringing you the very best Disney posts from around the web. Sit back and enjoy!”

Ceviche? No, it’s Shrimp ‘n Salsa!

I’ve given this some thought, and I think it’s only fair that I start off All in WDW’s second year with the same topic that I began the first – Food & Wine.

Oh, don’t you go and stop reading yet.  I don’t have THAT much Food & Wine left in me.  In fact, I’ve, pretty much, exhausted my repertoire.

You’ll remember that I published some poor-quality shots of the Florida Local marketplace’s Shrimp Ceviche during our second trip to the festival.

It was just TOO dark for taking pictures!

At the time I reported that my son “… said it made him think of something like a …

“Brazilian” Pork Tenderloin?

Food & Wine may have shut its doors for 2013, but its memory lives on … at least with Mrs. All in WDW and I, that is.

This past weekend, we were feeling a little bit sad that the “festivals of all festivals” was coming to its end.  So, in an effort to re-create the “magic”, we tried our hand at making our own version of one of our 2013 favorites.

Ranked at #10 in the All in WDW 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Final Top 25, my first impression of Brazil’s Crispy Pork Belly came at the late-July Tables in Wonderland preview event where I said, “The Pork Belly rocks!”

Later, I went on to add, “The best bite of the Tables in Wonderland dinner was Brazil’s pork belly.  The symphony of tastes you’ll find when you combine a bit of the pork with the dish’s black beans, onions, avocado, and cilantro are hard to beat.”

At the actual festival, however, I came away with mixed feelings.  I observed that, “The Crispy Pork Belly was …

K.J.’s Food & Wine “Must-Try List”!

Oh, boy!  Mrs. All in WDW and I are exhausted!

First, a 7-hour ride down to Orlando.  Going TO Orlando is always fun, right?

We patiently awaited their arrival, but, then, we enjoyed a 2-day scramble through Food & Wine with our son and his fiancee’.  Wow, they have some energy!

Fortunately, all of that eating and fun was off-set with a weekend jam-packed with Regatta Club relaxation.  We’ve decided that the Yacht Club is our second-most favorite resort.  Did you see the view from our club-level room?

Up early, yesterday, we made a mad dash to the Orlando airport at 6 AM.  The kids had to fly home to Ohio.  How sad!  That airport’s garage is the most whacked-out place to park that we’ve ever visited!

Finally, we practically “sleep-drove” our  7-hour run back to Atlanta.  Sheesh!  I don’t even have the energy to write!

Fortunately, K.J. Simpson of “Plus the Magic” has that covered for today!  You remember K.J., don’t ya’?  She played a key role on the team of readers that finalized the All in WDW Readers’ 2013 Food & Wine Festival Top 25.

This past Monday, K.J. unveiled her Food & Wine “Must-Try List”.  It is her first trip to visit “the festival of all festivals”.  Please take a few minutes to jump over and see what she has to say.  As a former vegetarian, she has a unique view on how she built her menu.

By the way, it was an honor to “lend her” some of All in WDW’s pictures.  Any time, K.J.!
