You don’t need any additional reviews of a movie other than what you find amongst the Disney communities on Facebook and Twitter.
Below are just a few of the comments regarding “Saving Mr. Banks” that I have seen from amongst our friends over the last few days. My thanks to those of you whose words I have “borrowed”. They certainly have sold me on going to see this film!
“[I]t was a fantastic movie. Very moving, and a well told story …”
“Just saw Saving Mr. Banks. AMAZING movie. Just take lots of tissues.” Plus, “Your going to love it. Bring tissues!”
Or, “What a beautiful movie!”, “I just saw it today and loved it!!”, and “Saving Mr. Banks was brilliant. We laughed and cried! Absolutely loved it.”
And, here are some huge tips! “Hint. Stay past the credits at the end and they show pics of the real people that were portrayed in the movie.” Plus, “Stay longer and HEAR the ACTUAL tapes! Loved it!”
So, having shared all of these glowing recommendations, let’s get back to yesterday’s “business”! How did you do on our “Poppins Quiz”?
Well, to start, “Mary Poppins” is an American musical film released by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution. It hit the screens in 1964. You guys nailed that one! There’s no fooling you!
The next two “challenges” were much, much tougher, however. For example, “[H]ow many Academy Awards nominations did the movie “Mary Poppins” receive?” It received 13 Academy Awards nominations. Of those, it won 5 awards. This made “Mary Poppins” the most Oscar-nominated Disney film in history!
Of the 5 Oscars that “Mary” pulled in, one of them was for Best Song. As much as I wanted to say it was for “A Spoonful of Sugar”, it was not. The movie won for “Chim Chim Cher-ee”. Right on target, that was your most-popular response! Great work, my friends!
If you’ve already seen “Saving Mr. Banks”, please leave a comment with your thoughts. What was it like to see “Walt” live and in action?!
looking forward to a good cry
So are we. We haven’t made it there yet. Maybe over New Years!
Just saw it yesterday. It was a great movie, but not what we expected. It was a great thought provoking movie. I will look at “Mary Poppins” in a new light. One of my favorite Disney movies!! Thumbs up on this one!!
Thanks for the comments! Still haven’t been able to get there. Going to see if Mrs. All in WDW will go on New Years or New Years Eve.
