FINALLY, we have some news … thank you, A.J. Wolfe and the Disney Food Blog! ”Food” & Garden is on its way!
Stating that we should “Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all the details!”, A.J. and her team can’t wait to tell us all about Epcot’s 2014 menu. Hey, A.J.! We can’t wait to hear all about it!
In the meantime, what has A.J. learned? What “beans” has Disney Food Blog found to spill?
I mentioned a week or so ago that this year’s eleven food kiosks have been tagged with the moniker – Outdoor Kitchens. Well, the first piece of news we receive from “the kitchen” is that Florida Fresh’s Watermelon Salad will make a return in 2014.
This refreshing bite made its debut at 2013′s “Food” & Garden festival and even took the stage for an encore at last Summer’s Tables in Wonderland Food & Wine preview event. It is a very tasty item and was one of the hits of both “parties”.
According to DFB, Urban Farm Eats, a new Outdoor Kitchen for Epcot in 2014, will feature a Land-Grown Eggplant “Scallop” with Romesco Sauce. This dish is “Land-Grown” in that it was grown in Epcot’s own Land Pavilion! Oh, and were you wondering what is a “Romesco Sauce”? Romesco is a Spanish nut and red pepper-based sauce.
And, the Urban Farm Eats menu doesn’t stop there, A.J. maintains. How would you like to enjoy a Ghost Pepper-Dusted Tilapia served with Winter Melon Salad and Mango Chutney? Ghost pepper? Really? Described as 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce, I can’t imagine how hot a ghost pepper will make this fish!
Perhaps the most concerning news – to me, at least – was DFB’s announcement that there will be “new dishes” at American Adventure’s “The Smokehouse: Barbecue and Brews”. New? No! Say it isn’t so!
In 2013, All in WDW judged The Smokehouse’s Pulled Pig Slider and Smoked Beef Brisket as “Best in Show”! Well, they ended up being #1 and #2, respectively, in our Final “Food” & Garden Festival Top 20, that is. Please don’t take them away!
What’s on 2014′s tap at this house of BBQ and brews? Evidently, we’ll be treated to “… something like Smoked Turkey Ribs”. Uh, pig and beef that is not. Those ribs better stack up, or The Smokehouse might plummet off of All in WDW’s charts!
There you have it, my friends. It’s a “glimpse of the future” … our “Food” & Garden destiny. C’mon, Disney! Spill the rest of the beans. What’re we gonna eat!
Oh, and not to forget … the answer to yesterday’s Pop Century trivia will publish tomorrow. If you answered the “quiz”, stop back Thursday to see how you did. If you haven’t tackled the challenge yet, go back and give it a shot!
