Do you know those cliche’ little challenges that we bloggers throw out at you from time to time? You know, a cleverly-taken (or Photoshopped) picture with a caption reading, “Where am I? I have been guilty of presenting a few of those myself. I may throw out another one today! Maybe not.
After almost a week of silence, I imagine that at least a few of you are asking, “Where the bleep have you been, All in WDW?!” Well, my friends it’s a LONG story. OK. I won’t make it long. I still have too much work to do!
You see, a few months ago, our apartment complex broke ground on constructing a brand new high-rise. Right off our bedroom balcony.
We were excited to hear about the high-rise. Since we moved to Atlanta, and began residing amongst the skyscrapers, I have wanted to move into one. The view from a high-floor, “penthouse-like” apartment has to be beautiful.
Having said that, our Coronado Springs-themed balcony was a perfect spot to …
… chill while sipping Habañero Lime Margaritas. Sadly, we knew that was going to become a thing of the past.
Anyway, at first, the construction was kind of exciting. Backhoes. Bulldozers. Cranes. They worked from about 7 AM to 4 PM. It was quiet on weekends. It wasn’t too bad. But, then, came this desolation.
Then, came the drilling. Have you ever heard a massive construction drill bore through solid rock? At 10 PM? Folks, I swear they’re drilling for oil out there. I just wish I could get a cut of the “take” for having to suffer the awful noise.
Finally, last Wednesday evening, enough became enough. Before our leasing office closed, we agreed to move to a recently-vacated unit … on the other side of the building. I mean, we couldn’t possibly have picked an apartment further away from our old “digs”. It is slightly larger, not that much more expensive, has pool and city views, an office to house All in WDW HQ, and is very QUIET!
Less than one week later, after Mrs. All in WDW and I knocked ourselves out moving every scrap that we own down the hall, we’re back in business. We’re ready for The “Prince” and “Princess-to-be” (er, our son and his fiancee’) to arrive for their holiday visit later this week. We’re almost ready to jump full-force back into the blog-o-sphere.
Have you guys any idea as to just how many address changes I have to submit? Credit cards. Banks. Disney. I’m going to be doing this for months! Ooof.
Have a great day, all!
Great post & Welcome Back! Sorry you had to go through that ordeal, the growth of a city can be a bummer at times. You did lose a really great view, but the pool side/city view isn’t too bad. One view was more serene, while the other makes you feel like you’re on a permanent vacation. At least that’s how I would feel w/a pool view 24/7/365 Enjoy the new place & your Holiday visit.. Merry Christmas!
Thanks!! Merry Christmas to you too!
