I know you guys don’t have near as much desire as me to watch each day’s poll unfold, but I have to tell you … it can be really fascinating.
Take yesterday, for instance. Food & Wine ripped off to an early and commanding lead. I was shocked! Why?
Well, if you took a look back at last year’s finale, you noticed that “the festival of all festivals” didn’t even attend the final 4-way dance. Test Track was there in its place.
Therefore, it came into 2014′s “Final Four” as the only newcomer. It even came into this year’s finale with the lowest overall vote total of the four competitors! This “upstart” – this underdog – was going to unseat 2013′s terrific trio?
I guess so. Food & Wine ran out to that early lead, and it never gave it back!
What’s my take on the result? Well, you all know just how much I love Food & Wine. I mean, All in WDW was born after the 2011 Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival. Our first-ever post was titled, “An Affair with Food & Wine”! I love this result, of course!
This is what I told Mrs. All in WDW yesterday. As I considered my vote, my logic went like this … Epcot is our favorite park. What makes us go to Epcot?
We don’t feel like we’re even in WDW until we smell Rome burning, so, let alone the park itself, Spaceship Earth is one of our overall favorite WDW attractions.
Mrs. All in WDW is partial to Soarin’®. I enjoy the ride, but it isn’t one of my personal “must-dos”. Frankly, I think it could use quite a bit of freshening up, so I can take it or leave it. Sorry, Soarin’® fans out there!
We love to sit at an umbrella table in Italy, with a glass of wine in hand, while enjoying IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Last year’s “champ” is a family favorite, and we cringe every time rumors surface about its demise, replacement, or refurbishment. Leave it alone, Disney!
Having said all that, we consciously plan trips to Orlando to attend the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival! I even dedicate months of coverage to the attraction on All in WDW! It has to be our personal favorite Epcot attraction! It might even be our overall favorite WDW attraction! But, that’s an issue for another day.
When it comes to our other three contenders, they did what they did in 2013. They, pretty much, evenly split the vote. And, ultimately, that was their undoing. None of them could muster up enough support to catch the festival, and the food took the “crown”!
Congratulations to the “king” of all food-fests! By upsetting the field, you have become the 2014 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Epcot Attraction!
Thanks for your support in voting this week, my friends! It was a grueling tournament, but I hope you had some fun. Have a great week! See ya’ tomorrow!
