“Food” & Garden ’14 Flash Report – Bring your wallet!

Yesterday, I got asked the question, “Are you going to be posting pricing too?  I will be there next week, and I’m trying to plan a budget!”

So, here’s some data!

Of the nine entrees we bought yesterday, the average cost was $5.33.  The median of the group was $5.50.  If you’re planning a budget, I would use the median.  Five of the nine items cost $5.50 or higher.

The highest cost dish of the group was the Smoked Beef Brisket at $6.75.  It was worth the price.  The cheapest was the Eggplant “Scallop” at $3.75.  In my opinion, regardless of the price, it wasn’t worth the “investment”.

Smoked Beef Brisket - The Smokehouse: Barbecue and Brews (American Adventure)

Was the brisket worth $6.75?  Yes, it was!

Anyone wondering how much a “drunken” Dole Whip costs?  The Dole Whip w/Dark Rum was $6.50.  It was a good way to end the day yesterday, but … yikes!  I spent $6.50 on a bit of soft-serve?

Here’s the list:

  • Corn Tortilla Pork Taco – $5.50
  • Shrimp and Stone-Ground Grits – $5.75
  • Smoked Beef Brisket – $6.75
  • Smoked Turkey “Rib” – $4.75
  • Pulled Pig Slider – $5.75
  • Three-Cheese Manicotti – $5.75
  • Spring Pancake – $5.25
  • Land-grown Eggplant “Scallop” – $3.75
  • Ghost Pepper-dusted Tilapia – $4.75

In my opinion, the worst value was the Manicotti.  The best deal was the Tilapia.
