The All in WDW Readers’ “Ridiculously Early” Food & Wine ’14 Top 13!

So, I’m glad I left the poll open for a few more days than I normally would.  Your participation was awesome!  I wanted as many of you as possible to have a chance to “vote”.

Without further delay, here’s the final tally for, what surely will be, the first of many Food & Wine votes to come!  What?  There’ll be many more?

Uh, yes.  About this time last year, we carved an original list of 61 Food & Wine dishes into an All in WDW Readers’ 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Pre-Festival Top 25!  Yes, I said 61!  Off and on, it took us weeks!  But, general consensus was we had a blast!

Anyway, here’s the fruits of this week’s labors!

  1. Crispy Pork Belly
  2. Crispy Fried Potato Balls
  3. Braised Beef
  4. Sea Scallop
  5. Brazilian Cheese Bread
  6. “Bacon and Eggs”
  7. Blackened Chick’n Breast
  8. Tilapia
  9. Sauerkraut Pierogi
  10. Bobotie
  11. Roasted Verlasso Salmon
  12. Griddled “Yard Bird”
  13. Pork Goulash

Nice work!  Do you remember All in WDW’s “Top 15″ Rules for Taking on Food & Wine!?  We published it last year, here on the site, and in our free Food & Wine e-book.  You can find a link to the free book here.  Yes, my friends, I said FREE!

Anyway, let me quote Rule #14.  “Everyone’s tastes are different.  This rule is actually my favorite. It’s also the reason I LOVE the Food & Wine festival.  Everyone’s tastes are different, and I love the conversation that this fact generates.  Just keep in mind – there’s no wrong choice.  There are just different choices … based on personal taste!”

Boy, we just put on a Rule #14 clinic!  Here’s a reminder of my “Ridiculously Early” Food & Wine ’14 Top 13 …

  1. Tilapia
  2. Sea Scallop
  3. Roasted Verlasso Salmon
  4. Griddled “Yard Bird”
  5. Braised Beef
  6. Crispy Pork Belly
  7. Crispy Fried Potato Balls
  8. “Bacon and Eggs”
  9. Pork Goulash
  10. Sauerkraut Pierogi
  11. Brazilian Cheese Bread
  12. Bobotie
  13. Blackened Chick’n Breast

Like I said, different choices.  WAY different, it seems.  Where do we vary the most?

Roasted Verlasso Salmon.  You say #11.  I say #3.  I’ll chalk this to personal taste, I think.  I do like a good piece of salmon.  The group consensus, however, adds up to something between indifference to, dare I say, dislike?

Griddled “Yard Bird”.  Not feeling the “house-made habanero sauce”, are you?  I have to admit, I am a bit put off by the name – “Yard Bird”.  You say #12.  I say #4.

Tilapia.  If you hadn’t ranked the Sea Scallop reasonably high (at #4), I’d say you don’t like seafood.  When it comes to the Tilapia, you say #8.  I say #1!  You want to know why?

Epcot’s Ghost Pepper-dusted Tilapia at this past Spring’s “Food” & Garden festival was phenomenal.  I’m banking on an encore performance!

Brazilian Cheese Bread.  You say #5.  I say #11.  As I mentioned above, we carved 61 items down to Top 25’s.  A meat-less dish just isn’t destined to make it onto my final menu.

Blackened Chick’n Breast.  Did I mention “meat-less”?  You say #7.  I say it ends the list at #13.  Nothing against Terra’s Gardein™ Chick’n Breast, but it won’t make my final cut.

There you have it!  Our first Epcot International Food & Wine Festival menus!  I hope you guys are getting excited for September.  I certainly am!  C’mon, September 19th!  Get here!
