The Swiss Family Narrowly Escapes Eviction!

Wow!  Talk about split decisions.  By a pretty slim margin, you want Swiss Family Treehouse to live on … as long as Disney gives it a “facelift” of some kind.

Frankly, I’m quite surprised.  I was certain you’d be ready for a change!

At 37 to 30, the vote was razor close, that’s for sure.  However, the comments that I saw expressed much more affection for this Magic Kingdom original than I ever expected.

For my part, I’d have to say that my vote is definitely to … eliminate.  Why?  Well, I already mentioned that the movie came out in 1960.  It’s quite dated, now.

Hey, I’m not going to say the film wasn’t worthy of commemoration in the parks … way back then.  Here and now, though, I consider the attraction a candidate to be replaced by something new.

Are you sure you wouldn’t like to see something fresh, my friends?  No?

Personally, for me, this tree was a “one and done”.  We experienced it for the first time several years ago and, then, never went back.

When it comes to a re-imagineering plan, my task will be a little bit tricky.  After all, the Treehouse doesn’t take up all that much space in Adventureland.

With not much room to go “sideways”, my best choice for re-design might be to go “up”.  Wait!  That’s it!

Yes, my friends, I have mentioned this before – mainly in conversations regarding Disney’s Hollywood Studios – but, possibly, this particular piece of Magic Kingdom real estate would be a perfect place to pay tribute to Pixar’s Up!

Up

Think of Characters in Flight in Disney Springs.  Visualize a ride vehicle in the shape of Carl’s house.  Imagine the views of Walt Disney World’s flagship park from way, way above!

How will the surrounding area be themed?  Why, as the wilds of South America, of course!  That is where Carl wanted to go so badly, right?  Let’s let him!

Up was released back in 2009.  What better way to update a space filled by an old and should-be-retired attraction?  It would be a great tribute to this more-current movie, that’s for sure.  Plus, it would bring some more Pixar to the parks!

So, what do you think of my “project plan”, folks?  Should we Execute?  Or, should we just toss the concept in the trash?  Let me know!  I want to hear your opinions!

Rehabilitate? Or, Eliminate? – Swiss Family Treehouse

Quoting the all-knowing and ever-present Wikipedia, the “Swiss Family Treehouse is an attraction [that appears in] several Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

The remaining versions based on the original are located [in the] Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and … in Disneyland Paris.

The walk-through attraction is centered on a giant treehouse where everyone can hear and see various scenes based on the Disney film Swiss Family Robinson.”

Hmm.  Swiss Family Robinson.  That movie came out in 1960.  1960?  Even this old dude wasn’t around back then.  Well, I almost was, I guess, but you get what I mean.

So, what’s this “rehabilitation or elimination” thing all about?  Well, if your new to All in WDW, it goes something like this …

Welcome to the The Walt Disney Company, my friends!  I hope you are enjoying your “career” in Disney’s design and development division – Walt Disney Imagineering!

As you know, WDI is responsible for the creation and construction of Disney theme parks worldwide, and we need your help!

Tap into your creativity.   Imagine that you’re an … Imagineer!  Yes!  In fact, in today’s case, you’re a “re-imagineer”!

Swiss Family Treehouse.  Should we rehabilitate?  Give it a bit of a facelift, maybe?  Should we eliminate?  Replace it altogether?  Or, should we leave it alone?

Your task, today, is a two-part job.  First, what’s your vote?  Second, if you want to rehabilitate, what do you suggest we do?   If you want to eliminate, what should take its place?  What’s your “Project Plan”?

Leave your comments on this post, on Facebook, or on Twitter, my friends!

This is what we do, folks.  It’s Imagineering.  It’s “Re-Imagineering”!  We need your help!

Seeing the Light at Trader Sam’s!

Wow!  I have to tell you … when I posted my “recon” of Trader Sam’s a few month’s back, I thought my pictures were pretty good.

Leave it to my son to teach me a lesson!  Great lighting!  Phenomenal color!  Outstanding job!  Enjoy!

Quick Service “Recon”: The Artist’s Palette

Good morning, Disney fans!  Hey!  If you’re looking for bright and vibrant colors, I know where you can find them.  Search no further than Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa!

But, where exactly should you look, you ask?  Well, deep in the heart of this DVC resort, you’ll find … The Artist’s Palette.

It’s aptly named – since a palette is a thin board that is used by a painter to mix colors while painting, that is.  Look at it!  This Quick Service is full of reds, greens, blues, and yellows!

Food offerings are basically standard Disney fare.

Plus, in light of Saratoga being a DVC destination, you can stock up on take-home “groceries”.

Afterwards, if you want to take a bit of a stroll, you’ll find that Saratoga Springs offers great access to Disney Springs via this pathway to fun!

When it comes to Deluxes, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is a very under-appreciated choice.  Likewise, I’m going to assume that The Artist’s Palette is little-known.

As you look for non-Park things to do, my friends, keep Saratoga in mind.  It’s a beautiful resort.  It has great access to “downtown”.  And, it’s not a bad place to stop and dine!

A Poolside Lunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!

Located alongside what is simply named the Courtyard Pool, this Grand Floridian pool bar, sports an incredibly obvious name – Courtyard Pool Bar.

Gotta love the creativity there, eh?  Just kidding, Disney!

Notwithstanding its nondescript name, however, it certainly boasts a beautiful view of Walt Disney World’s flagship resort …

It’s also a very relaxing setting in which to take on a light lunch.

The menu is pretty limited, I’m afraid.

Having said that, Mrs. All in WDW and I were able to find something to share!

Served by the Floridian’s Quick Service – Gasparilla Island Grill – this Margherita Flatbread was a tasty collaboration of mozzarella, tomato, and basil.

All in all, maybe this pool bar wouldn’t be the first place you’d think of for a meal, but it’s a pleasant place, nonetheless.  Hey!  If you’re visiting the Grand Floridian, stop on by!
