WDW Radio ‘On the Road’ – Atlanta, GA!

Sunday was an absolutely EPIC day!  But, it didn’t start off that way.

I have Mrs. All in WDW to thank for this one.  We woke up Sunday morning to rain, gloom, cold, and doom.  It made me wonder if we had, somehow, been instantly teleported back to Ohio.  In fact, it was perfect weather.  Perfect for staying in for the day.

But, as tempted as I was, Mrs. All in WDW was having none of it.  Lou was “in da’ house”!  We were going to go out and “party” WDW Radio-style!

Lou Mongello, the dean of Walt Disney World podcasting, is scheduled to make an appearance on CBS Atlanta’s morning show this very morning.  Having arrived in Atlanta a few days early, however, he planned a WDW Radio ‘On the Road’ event!  What better way to greet his local – and not-so-local – fans?

The venue was Midtown’s The Nook on Piedmont Park where Lou was joined by Michelle Burdo of CBS Atlanta news!  And, the fans?  Well, we came from far and wide.  Locals, like us, or devotees from as far away as an hour North of Nashville, Tennessee or Birmingham, Alabama, Lou’s fans came to say, “Hi!”

The food was great.  The company was outstanding!  Take a look!

Mrs. All in WDW and I started off the afternoon by sharing a BIG Bloody Mary.  Called the “Bloody Best”, it was a 32 ounce glass overflowing with the best Bloody Mary you’ve ever had.

It has been featured on Urbandaddy.com and was topped with pepperoncinis, jalapeños, tater tots, steak, bacon, blue cheese-stuffed green olives, a slice of toast, lemon, lime, and a hard-boiled egg.  Notice the hollowed-out beef stick?  Yeah, that’s a straw.

Oh, and don’t worry.  It was big … but it wasn’t as strong as it looked.

The Nook is famous for their “Totchos”.  Totchos?  Imagine tater tot “nachos”.  Those are Totchos.  I have to confess, as a table of Disney fans, we shared several versions of The Nook’s totchos.  Do you think I remembered to take even one picture?  Of course, not.  Here’s one from The Nook’s web site.  Yum!

Later on, for entrees, Mrs. All in WDW chose the …

While I chose …

The Nook’s Shrimp & Grits Stuffed Burger

A beef patty stuffed with sautéed shrimp, andouille sausage, and gouda cheese is topped with an andouille sausage and gouda ‘grit cake’.  It’s all smothered in a smoked tomato beurre blanc sauce.  Yum!  It was “The People’s Choice Award Winner” at Battle of the Burgers 2010!

Finally, as a fond farewell, we, the fans, shared a gallon-sized fishbowl.  Huh?  Imagine one of the tastiest adult beverages in Atlanta.  Put it in a plastic fishbowl.  Toss in a ton of straws.  Drink it up!  The Nook has seven tasty combinations to choose from!

However you describe it, this was one ‘blast’ of a party.  The company was phenomenal.  The food was outstanding!  And, let me tell you, it was an incredible way to spend a dreary, wet day in The ATL.

I’d like to thank Lou for coming to Atlanta and holding this great event.  I’d also like to thank CBS Atlanta’s Michelle Burdo (our new favorite news anchor!) for bringing WDW Radio to town.  We had a Sunday to remember, made a few friends along the way, and can’t wait for the next … WDW Radio ‘On the Road’ in The ATL!
