Closed for Refurbishment? Uh, Oh! VOTE For Your Favorite Epcot Attractions!

Let’s dodge controversy from the very first post of this year’s campaign to elect an All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Epcot Attraction, shall we?

What controversy, you ask?  Well, folks, in 2014, when referencing that year’s Animal Kingdom ‘competition’, I wrote:

“In short, [Festival of the Lion King] is currently closed, so Disney has pulled it from its web site.  Therefore, it misses this year’s “tourney”.  Controversial, I know, but it’s out of the game, nonetheless.”

Why do I dredge up this moldy fact, my friends?  Um, do you recall what attraction is Epcot’s defending champion?  Yes, it’s Soarin’.  Closed for refurbishment?  Uh, oh!

Then, mere days before this ‘tournament’ was set to kick off, the news broke that The Land’s Circle of Life attraction was also pushed to the sidelines.  Rumors are that it might not re-open at all!

Circle

What does Disney say?  Both attractions are listed in an Epcot-related section of their web site entitled, you guessed it, “Closed for Refurbishment”.  That’s what they say.

So, what do we do?  Precedent (think Festival of the Lion King) says that I should exclude both attractions.  Common sense says that Soarin’ has to defend its title!

Fans, breathe easy.  I am going to include your beloved defending champ in this year’s tourney.  Of course.  And, to be fair, since it is also listed with Soarin’, Circle of Life makes an appearance as well.  You decide whether or not they belong!

On to business, then.  What’s your task today?  I present FOUR groups of eight attractions, below.  You can vote for THREE attractions in each group.  Thats right.  Three!  The Top 4 finishers in each group will move on to Round #2!

Well, my friends?  Which attraction will become the 2016 All in WDW Readers’ Favorite Epcot Attraction?  Go ahead!  VOTE, vote, vote!

Dining Update: Disney Springs [Fulton’s Crab House, STK Orlando]

Good morning, friends!

We hope that your weeks have started off in magical fashion … whether you’re lucky enough to be in Orlando or reading from home!  Stay strong, folks.  Hopefully your next trip is right around the corner!

Mrs. All in WDW thinks that I’ve been asleep at the switch.  After all, she’s convinced that she knew about this already …

What?  Well, a Cast Member friend of ours has confirmed that Fulton’s Crab House will close for a 7-month, major refurbishment in April.  It will re-open this coming November.

Did you also already know about this?  Yes?  What can I say, fans?  I can’t possibly catch every piece of Disney’s news!

Changing topics, as I reported in a post at the beginning of December, this is how the construction of STK Orlando looked back then …

Now, a few short months later, the exterior of the restaurant is really taking shape.  Below, here it is today!

We can’t wait to see this new Disney Springs venue up and running.  Can you?  Let me ask you this, how likely are you to prioritize making an ADR for a newly-opened STK Orlando?

Quick Service “Recon”: Siestas Cantina

Good morning, my friends!  Wipe that Super Bowl game out of your eyes.  I just know you stayed up late to watch it!

We hear rumor that Siestas Cantina – the pool bar at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – is about to get a new menu.  We’ll have to stop back soon to check it out!

In the meantime, Mrs. All in WDW and I enjoyed a quick lunch a few weeks back.  We thought we’d share the current menu as well as a few shots of this cantina’s cuisine.  Enjoy!

Siestas offers a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Say hi to Arina if she's behind the bar!

Siestas offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  How good does a 6-pack of Krispy Kreme donuts sound?

Mrs. All in WDW had the Siestas Nachos.

You certainly can’t argue with the view!

A Great Day for Football? Yes! Visit United World Soccer at Disney Springs!

It goes without saying that today is a huge day for football.  American football, that is.  For Mrs. All in WDW and I, it’s, sadly, just another day.

Why?  Well, quite simply, any American team we would ever follow – the ever-pathetic Cleveland Browns, the bumbling Atlanta Falcons, or any of Florida’s three clubs – couldn’t get to a Super Bowl if they were able to field a team of all stars!

Then, there’s my true beloved and favorite football team – the English Premier League’s Manchester United Football Club.  What a great season they are having … NOT!

Anyway, on this, what will certainly be a, football over-loaded day, I’d like to present a very brief tour through one of my favorite shops – United World Soccer at Disney Springs!

They don’t carry nearly enough United merchandise, in my humble opinion, but I always stop in to see “what’s new”!

My friends, whether you’re a fan of the Carolina Panthers or the Denver Broncos, we hope you enjoy this football “holiday”.  Us?  We’ll be at one of the parks!

Menu “Recon”: Liberty Inn

I don’t know about you, but it has been a busy, busy week.  In fact, Mrs. All in WDW didn’t even catch up on my posts until yesterday!

She wasn’t entirely pleased.  “The people are going to think all we do is go to Disney to eat, Bob!”

Well, in my defense, the pictures I displayed this week [ here and here ] were taken over the course of several years.  We certainly didn’t eat all of these items on one trip!

To be honest, we probably eat no more food per trip to WDW than any other Disney fan!

Before I move on with today’s “business”, I want to stop back to my appearance on this week’s WDW Main Street Podcast.  I promised to post this picture …

Proof positive that Dennis Conroy did indeed enjoy a plate of the Rose & Crown’s Bangers and Mash. Delicious, wasn’t it, my friend?

Now, on to my other pal’s favorite … Doug Davis’s beloved [did I just “say” that?] Epcot Quick Service venue – Liberty Inn!

Located on the left side [as you look at the building from the promenade] of the American Adventure Pavilion, Disney bills this restaurant as a salute to American fast-food favorites.

Looking at the menu, you’ll find quite a wide selection of burgers, ‘dogs’, salads and more.  They even offer a vegetarian “chicken” option.

In addition, although it wouldn’t typically be considered a fast-food choice, you can select Liberty’s New York Strip Steak!  Yum!  [Photo courtesy of Disney’s site.]

Sporting a ton of choices, and with plenty of seating – both inside and out – I can see why Doug loves Liberty Inn so much!

Full disclosure, it hasn’t made our target list, as yet, but I can assure you that Mrs. All in WDW and I will find a way to fit this popular stop into our plans in the near future.

What about you, my friends?  Have you been to the Liberty Inn?  Do you like it?  What did you [or would you!] order?  Let us know … below!
