Food & Wine ’14 “Flash Report”: Chase Lounge

Do you have a Chase credit or debit card?  If so, this is the place to be! Especially if you’re trying to escape the heat and sun … or, as in our case, the rain.

Located in The American Adventure, what hides within?  Just some simple refreshments, air conditioning, and places to sit, chill, and relax.  Take a look!

Food & Wine ’14 “Flash Report”: Japan

Japan always seems to find a way to disappoint me.  First, it was their Sukiyaki Beef Pan at 2012’s Food & Wine Festival.  Then, it was their Japanese Noodles “sandwich” at 2013’s “Food” & Garden Festival.

I’m sorry, Japan.  After experiencing this year’s Food & Wine, we came away feeling that your Teriyaki Chicken Steamed Bun is just way too sweet.

Now, in 2013, we did sample Japan’s Spicy Hand Roll.  We found it quite good … even if it didn’t deliver on the “spicy”.  Both the sushi and the sauce were quite tame, as we recall.  Nonetheless, it would receive our recommendation for this year.

Food & Wine ’14 “Flash Report”: Morocco

Sadly, Morocco just receives a menu report from us this year.

We’ve tried their Kefta Pocket in past years.  It just wasn’t good enough to raise our interest again.

And, when it comes to 2014’s Spicy Shrimp Roll?  Well, all we could think about was “Food” & Garden’s Lamb Brewat Roll.  That roll was really greasy.

Sorry, Morocco.  We passed, this year.

Food & Wine ’14 “Flash Report”: Canada

‘O, Canada!  How could I stroll around World Showcase and forget you?  A mere oversight, I promise.

As I said at the festival, your Beef Filet Mignon “tasted great”.  “The truffle butter sauce was phenomenal.  The mushrooms were very nice.  And, that’s saying something when it comes from someone who dislikes ‘shrooms as much as I do.”

If you love a nice filet, my friends, or are a huge fan of Le Cellier, you should try this piece of steak!

Canada’s Seared Rainbow Trout is fine enough, I guess.

But, I’ll say it again, “When you have great seafood dishes like [Scotland’s Scallop], Patagonia’s Salmon, Singapore’s Mahi-Mahi, or Brazil’s Tilapia to choose from, it’s just too easy to look at Canada’s Trout and say, ‘Pass’.”

If you’re hoping to enjoy a seafood-loaded menu, take my advice.  Pick Canada’s fish last.

Food & Wine ’14 “Flash Report”: Brazil

Interestingly, we thought Epcot had “lost” Brazil.  Expecting it to be “up front” in World Showcase, near Patagonia and Mexico, it was, instead, mixed in amongst Morocco, Belgium, and France.  Odd, we thought.

Brazil is a “winner”, as Marketplaces go, in 2014.  Both feature dishes are outstanding.

Brazil's very colorful and delicious Tilapia.

Crispy Pork Belly! Very crispy ... and, very good!

The kiosk is decorated beautifully, and, with the inclusion of a talented guitar player, the atmosphere is very entertaining.
